Let's see, half Europe, (included Portugal and it's colonies), A vast portion of North Africa, Mediterranean and the Portuguesse possesions on Africa; in America we spread from Oregon to Malvines Isles, except some French possesions in the Caribbean; Pacific, comes from Spanish word Pacifico, because we spread through all the Pacific but Oceania.... Yes, I thnk in the lands of Phillip the second the sun never set

That's because we Spanish are hiding our expansion plans till the right time arrives. We are going to spread again through the world with the help of our paella and patatas bravas. then, when everybody falls on their knees and beg to sell them in industrial quantities, we will increase incredibly rich and then we'll send our teoops all around the wiorld just to be again the empire "where the sun never sets" as we was in the XVII C... hmmm, this plan seems quite similar to the USA one, though dude, i saw more burger kings in spain than here...scary. oh, and starbucks is now in spain also. taco bell does have patatas bravas but nothing beats bar style ya, the usa has already begun its globalization process sadly.

The burger kings are just a distraction to hide our real intentions ;D No, yes, you're right, we've got here a lot of McDOnalds and Burger kings... we just preffer King to McDonalds; on the other hand we've got also "Pans And Company", "Tele Pizza" and "Rodilla" which are Spanish multirestaurants... and we are being invaded by DOnner Kebaps; that's globalization in the end, I supposse, you acquire the way in which bussiness from other countries develope. Starbucks? Well, which developed country doesn't have Starbucks? Spain, as any other country has the same global restaurants as any other country.
As a curiosity about Patatas Bravas, did anybody know that the Brava sauce is registered by a bar in Madrid? There's a mythical bar in Huertas zone called "Las Bravas" which is suppossed to have the best patatas bravas in the whole world... and I agree.
And I don't want to make this thread a frame for historical dates, but Nuno, since you don't remember... when I say that half Europe was under the goverment of Phillip the Second I mean that except Great Britain, and France, Spain ruled over practically the complete territory of central Europe; The Netherlands were Spain, the German territories were Spain, Corsica was Spain, almost the totality of Italy was Spain; And Portugal was ruled by the King of Spain and payed tributes to the Spanish crown so....

burger king is not big here. i think i've seen only 1 or 2 stores here in Portugal. one of them was in my city some years ago. i can say i didnt like it. especially as in both time i was about to puke.
McDonalds showed up first, in the outskirts. i like McDonalds, but i feel like a "stuffed turkey" if i go there more than 2 times in 2 days. same with other fast food chains.
we have the spanish telepizza and pans&company. kebabs not really, particulary shish-kebabs as we have our own.
its a pity i didnt ask that about patatas bravas before going to madrid. i could have gone there.
thks for the info about your history! i'll look for more details on it. i wasnt aware or dont remember it. but thks! :]

At least SOMEONE who doesn't like Burger King... I only know people who prefer Burger King to McDonalds. I myself already have enough when I come in and smell that stuff there, already makes me not want to eat there. Another reason to like Finland, they don't have Burger King there ;D (not yet )

Fast food is icky, whether it is Burger King or McDonald's or whatever haha. hahahhaa ya, not yet you say....just wait....dundundun. Last week in San Fransisco, CA this environmental group called the Enviromental/Earth Liberation Front (ELF) started putting pipe bombs in various Starbucks in the bathrooms to blow them up and they have been vandalizing them...meh stupid hippies. Someone should shoot them. Hopefully Finland doesn't have hippies either hehe.

Well, I do like the taste of fast food, but i know it is not healthy. However though I have stopped eating it. To be honest dad would only take us there if we was in the city and it was a rare treat. But I prefer to eat healthy like a good ole' Cornish pastie with salad or even a nice green apple. I dont like fast food any more and I prefer my hunted meat. McDonalds is such a bad influence, they advertise their stuff everywhere and now its like everyother small kid has a podgy belly- probably due to the 10 fast food outlets we have in the area we live.

Anyone that has seen the movie/documentary "Supersize Me" or has read the book "Fast Food Nation" never wants to visit a McDonalds again in his entire lifetime. Myself included. I absolutely despise fastfood. But, it has quite nothing to do with globalisation, McDonalds is a forced multi-national corporation. When talking about globalisation, there are more advantages than disadvantages but I won't go deeper in to that issue. I would be talking from an economic point of view, seeing as I'm a student in Economics and thus I would be boring the hell out of you all
