Hey, does anyone have a good recipe for brewing their own mead,
i kinda want a traditional european kind, thats for pint mugs, instead of wine glasses, something rough and trollish:)
or, any non sissy mead, anything without berrys or fruits is welcome
thanks

I read that recipe. But it is for 30 (!) litres... I think the only way to make it right, is using that big amounts. But for someone who just wants to try... I think you should buy it somewhere.
Any recommended brands?

That's probably the Finnish version of the recipe ;D I think you just can reduce the amounts and make 5 litres or so (like I did last year, though not with that recipe).

My recipe was taken from Hobbythek (http://www.hobbythek.de/archiv/294_1/) and I did it with someone who had done that for years so I just followed his instructions ;D To roughly translate it: You need (that was for 10 l actually): 3,5 kg of honey 7 l of water 30g of 80 percent lactid acid 4 tablets yeast mineral nutriment 10g of wheat flour yeast First you have to make sure the honey mixes well with the water and for that the water has to be hot. Not all the water but a part of it so these two ingredients get any contact at all. Can't really explain how we did that but afterwards we added the rest of the water and all other things to the vessel and closed it with a fermenting-lock and poured some water into it. As you see in Henri's recipe already, put it in a rather warm place, shake the whole vessel from time to time and make sure there is always water in the fermenting-lock. When the water in that lock doesn't bubble any more the fermenting process is finished. We put the whole thing to a colder place then though I don't remember exactly why but after a few weeks you can get it out into bottles with a flexible hose (make sure the end of it is always a bit above the bottom of the big vessel because that's where the rest of the yeast went down). And yes, it was very good

Acid? Flour?! Pfffft, you call that a mead or even a brewerage?

It's like that in that recipe and apparently it worked ;D Though the person that helped me with this said that in the recipe is a bit too much acid, one should take a bit less Maybe one has to try out these kind of things so it fits to one's own likes and dislikes but that's basically the recipe we used and drinkable mead turned out of that ;D

I like this thread, I was searching for a good mead recipe for ages but I couldn't find anywhere, just that gay shit "non-alcoholic mead"
About the Henri's recipe... is it good ? I can't wait for 3 weeks to drink it !
I can't buy it here too, because there's no place where I can find it. Does anyone know if is there Mead for sale in the internet ? ;D

OK. I hope it will be good. Anyway, my home-made spirit was good last year.
