I love the Tool movies! Especially 'Parabola'. Never looked at the lyrics, makes the very mysterious and very surrealistic art more clear.

Do you know that originaly the guitarist makes the movies? But at the Parabola video the end is made by the artist Alex Grey. check out the 'Favorite Painter' topic, i posted there some of his works. it's wonderful.

@virva: man, the second song you posted is really beautiful, thanks very much for sharing!
I don't know why, but for some years, when CHristmas came I always wanted to hear the following song, for me one of the masterpieces of the past century:
AMERICAN PIEDon Mclean
A long, long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile and I knew if I had my chance that I could make those people dance and maybe they'd be happy for a while but February made me shiver with every paper I delivered, bad news on the door step, I couldn't take one more step, I can't remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride but something touched me deep inside, the day, the music, died. So... CHORUS Bye, bye Miss American Pie drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry an them good ol' boys were drinkin whiskey and rye singin this will be the day that I die, this will be the day that I die.
Did you write the book of love and do you have faith in God above, if the bible tells you so, and do you believe in rock n' roll, can music save your mortal soul and can you teach me how to dance real slow? Well I know that you're in love with him cuz I saw you dancin in the gym you both kicked off your shoes and I dig those rhythm and blues. I was a lonely teenage bronkin buck with a pink carnation and a pick up truck but I knew I was out of luck, the day, the music, died. I started singin...
Chorus
Now for ten years we've been on our own and moss grows fat on a rollin stone but that's not how it used to be, when the jester sang for the king and queen in a coat he borrowed from James Dean and a voice that came from you and me, oh and while the king was looking down, the jester stole his thorny crown the courtroom was adjourned, no verdict was returned, and while Lenin read a book on Marx, the quartet practiced in the park and we sang dirges in the dark, the day, the music, died. We were singin...
Chorus
Helter Skelter in a summer swelter the birds flew off with a fallout shelter, eight miles high and fallin fast, its the land that falled on the grass the players tried for a forward pass with the jester on the sidelines in a cast, now the half-time air was sweet perfume while the sergeants played a marching tune we all got up to dance oh but we never got the chance oh as the players tried to take the field the marching band refused to yield do you recall what was revealed, the day, the music, died. We started singin...
Chorus
Oh and there we were all in one place, a generation lost in space with no time left to start again, so come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack Flash sat on a candle stick because fire is the devils only friend, oh and as I watched him on the stage, my hands were clinched in fists of rage, no angel born in hell could break that satan's spell and as the planes climbed high into the night to light the sacrificial right I saw satan laughing with delight, the day, the music, died. He was singin...
Chorus
I met a girl who sang the blues and I asked her for some happy news but she just smiled and turned away, I went down to the sacred store where I'd heard the music years before but the man there said the music wouldn't play and in the streets the children screamed, the lovers cried, and the poets dreamed but not a word was spoken, the church bells all were broken and the three men I admire most, the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost, they caught the last train for the coast, the day, the music, died, and they were singin...
Chorus
They were singin... Bye, bye Miss American Pie drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry an them good ol' boys were drinkin whiskey and rye singin this will be the day that I die.

Wäinötär - Mesihelmi
Metsänneito Mesihelmi, korea kuin kukka. Hipiältä heleämpi, kaunihimpi kuuta.
Kutsui kanssansa kankaalle kielojen, ilon iltahan impien. Kävi kannoilla kaunihin karkeloon, piti piirihin puolukkasuun.
Metsänneito Mesihelmi, korea kuin kukka. Metsämiehen maanitteli, lemmenleikkihin lauloi.
Sepä selkänsä näyttävi neitonen, luki loitsunsa puolukkasuu. Kiros' kuuseksi, näreeksi niemehen, miehen mettähän, pihkahiseks' puuks'.
This is hard to translate in English, but it's a song about Forest Maiden Mesihelmi. A forest man comes and falls in love with her, and Mesihelmi changes him to a tree. I got this Wäinötär's first CD as a christmas present. It's modern Finnish folk rock, similar like Sari Kaasinen's Emo - album, but even with a slight hard rock influences.

One of my favorites:
Primordial - Solitary Mourner
And so the rain kept on falling Still a solitary mourner stands Beneath the sorrowed eaves Among the rotting autumn leaves And watches over you
All the flowers laid Have long since bowed their heads And all the wailing women No longer cast their cries And all who once wore black Have returned to their lives Yet the mourner has not Forgotten And will stand that way forever
If I am the mourner Who shall know my name?
Who shall ever know my pain?
A solitary mourner stands to watch over you...

some of my favourites Falconer - Emotional Skies I will not scream out in anger won't play this game forever. Make up your mind or I will take control. Why can't we end this nightmare. If that's your way take your share, leave this now or I will loose my mind. I will not scream in the night. Come join in and stand side by side. Come take my hand, let us fly away cross emotional skies. (The dreams will come alive) Follow me up through the clouds of grey and into another day. All people try to tell me: "That's not the way it should be, it's just the poison, feeding on your brain." But in the lonesome night they don't know the fight, the battle that is raging inside my head. You brought down the moon so let your eyes light up the night. Save me from darkness. Respect the wilderness - Sonata ArcticaLament of a minstrel - FalconerPortals of light - FalconerImmortal - Helloweenbut there are a lot more beautiful ones!!!

I have a friend who writes wonderful lyrics. This is one of the lyrics for the first album of his band Warbreed. SIPPENHAFT (Warbreed)
I'm a soldier for the Reich, I'm the archetype of the Aryan übermensch, But I am not proud of what I've done, I've killed so many that I finally lost all count.
I was so blind; I did not see my dream, Of unity differed completely from reality, But nothing is like it should be and I feel, I can't breathe, when I recall the madness and the carnage.
I never wanted to be the pawn in this game, Never wanted to see what I've seen, I naively hope that someday I'll be set free, Days are passing by and I'm still enslaved and forgotten.
…enslaved and forgotten.
I fear not for my life but for that of my wife and son, A pledge of allegiance with a high price, These binds of flesh are a wicked machination, Punishment to the clan, our downfall is called Sippenhaft.
I'm a man in quest for his redemption, Whose dreams have turned him into a slave to the slaughterhouse, I wish I could go back in time and turn the story round, And then I would have held back my passion.
Call me a fool, but at that time the idea sounded right, I guess I am a fool, We were supposed to raise our country from its ashes, But this way everyday there are more and more ashes…
I never wanted to be the pawn in this game, Never wanted to see what I've seen, I have lost any hope that I'll be set free, Days are passing by, and I'm still enslaved and forgotten.
What am I supposed to do when all hope is lost? Close my eyes and cry while I pull the trigger? This is no way of life; it's rather a taste of death, Farewell to you all; it’s the only way out.
What’s there for me? Silky clouds or ravenous fire? Death, set me free, I’ll kill no more; this last bullet is for me.

Mine currently would be: Jäljen
Vangitaan hetki muuttuu ikuiseksi Kuva on tie hiljaisuuden polku Vangitaan toivo muuttuu kallioiksi Sameiksi silmät suru ikuiseksi Vangitaan laulu lauseet lyötäviksi Ruosteiseksi kieli sanat vaskisiksi Ruosteiseksi nitovi rauta syvästä maasta
[English translation:]
Let's capture the moment changing into eternity The picture is the path of silence Let's capture the wish changing into the rock Blurring eyes grieve forever Let's capture the singing joining into sentences Rusting tongue, coppering words Rusting and joining the iron deep from the ground
Or this song: Varis Eloinen
Varis eloinen Arka mustalintu Auringon väreet alas sinulle Väsynvyyhdin Surun lähetti Kerro siitä Pinta väreistä Kangas tulesta (I dont know how exact this is but it was written in the album's booklet so I take it) [English translation:]
Harvest bird Tender black bird Down the Sun's flickering towards you Tired skeined Messenger og sorrow Tell about it About the fabric of the fire About the surface of the ripples

Henry Martin [trad.]
There were three brothers in merry Scotland, In merry Scotland there were three, And they did cast lots which of them should go, should go, should go, And turn robber all on the salt sea.
The lot it fell first upon Henry Martin, The youngest of all the three; That he should turn robber all on the salt sea, Salt sea, salt sea. For to maintain his two brothers and he.
He had not been sailing but a long winter's night And a part of a short winter's day, Before he espied a stout lofty ship, lofty ship, lofty ship, Come abibing down on him straight way.
Hullo! Hullo! cried Henry Martin, What makes you sail so nigh? I'm a rich merchant ship bound for fair London town, London Town, London Town Would you please for to let me pass by?
Oh no! Oh no! cried Henry Martin, That thing it never could be, For I am turned robber all on the salt sea Salt sea, salt sea. For to maintain my two brothers and me.
Come lower your topsail and brail up your mizz'n And bring your ship under my lee, Or I will give you a full canon ball, canon ball, canon ball, And your dear bodies drown in the salt sea.
Oh no! we won't lower our lofty topsail, Nor bring our ship under your lee, And you shan't take from us our rich merchant goods, merchant goods, merchant goods Nor point our bold guns to the sea.
Then broadside and broadside and at it they went For fully two hours or three, Till Henry Martin gave to her the deathshot, the deathshot, the deathshot, And straight to the bottom went she.
Bad news, bad news, to old England came, Bad news to fair London Town, There's been a rich vessel and she's cast away, cast away, cast away, And all of her merry men drown'd.
Sinua, sinua rakastan [music: Kaj Chydenius] [lyrics: Aulikki Oksanen]
Sinua, sinua rakastan Yö painaa päähäni pimeän seppeleen Jotta en sinua näkisi
Miten taittavat linnut siipensä Miten vyöryvät vedet kallioitten alla Miten nousevat metsät tuulten mukana Ja pilvien sateet jähmettyvät kiveksi
Sinua, sinua rakastan Yö painaa päähäni pimeän seppeleen Jotta en sinua näkisi
Miten huutaa minulle avaruus Miten kirkuvat tähdet ohimoni läpi Miten itkevät lapset maailman rannoilla Ja merien yllä savuavat sydämet
Sinua, sinua rakastan Niin liikkuu pehmeä kätesi Kuin vene varhain aamuisella joella
I would like to translate this beautiful song but i'm not capable. There's many hard words which are impossible for me to translate. [Jos joku jolla ei ole muuta tekemistä viitsisi vaivata aivonystyröitään tai omaa kärsivällisyyden sanakirjan selaamiseen, olisin erittäin kiitollinen]

ina : Henry Martin, Donna Donna and House of the rising sun where the first three songs I could sing and play on my guitar when I was about 15 years old! Brave Sir Robin Ran Away - Monty Python Bravely bold Sir Robin Rode forth from Camelot. He was not afraid to die, Oh brave Sir Robin. He was not at all afraid To be killed in nasty ways. Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin. He was not in the least bit scared To be mashed into a pulp. Or to have his eyes gouged out, And his elbows broken. To have his kneecaps split And his body burned away, And his limbs all hacked and mangled Brave Sir Robin. His head smashed in And his heart cut out And his liver removed And his bowls unplugged And his nostrils raped And his bottom burnt off And his pen-- "That's... that's enough music for now lads, *** there's dirty work afoot*** ?." Brave Sir Robin ran away. ("No!") Bravely ran away away. ("I didn't!") When danger reared it's ugly head, He bravely turned his tail and fled. ("I never!") Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about And gallantly he chickened out. ("You're lying!") ****Bravely**** taking to his feet, He beat a very brave retreat. Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!

@ swordmaiden: "im a lumberjack, and im O.K., I sleep all night, and I work all day..." man, thats a killer ;D
lets go pagan:
hiljaiset askeleet kaikuvat syvissä vesissä kuolevan auringon alla kaikki on kaunista
alla puiden kuolleiden oksien istut kuunnellen kuolleita lintuja yö ei anna uskoa mihinkään ruumiisi tärisee kylmästä etkä löydä tietäsi takaisin kun silmäsi vihdoin tottuvat pimeään
hiljaiset askeleet kaikuvat syvissä vesissä tunteja laskien kulkee hämärä varjoina pisarat pirstovat polkua maailman reunalta kuolevan auringon alla kaikki on kaunista
tässä maailmassa ei ole mitään ei tyhjyydessä elämää jäljellä ne joita pelkäät eivät pelkää ketään olet yksin etkä tiedä missä ja silmäsi ovat tottuneet pimeään
taas yksi eksynyt sammaleeseen painaa kätensä pisarat pirstovat polkua pimeän reunalta huomenna auringon alla kaikki on kuollutta
***************
step inside the hall of perdition not even the shadows have invited you what can you hear, what can you feel? someone breathing timidly gasping for air whispers echo endlessly and you know that there is no one here
horror lurks wherever you hide it would you forsake your life to escape?
there is nothing in this world no life left in emptiness those you fear are afraid of no one you are alone and you don’t know where
silent steps echo in the deep waters while all is beautiful under a dying sun
under the branches of dead trees you sit and listen to dead birds the night leaves you believing in nothing your body shivers from the cold and you won’t find your way back when your eyes get used to the dark
silent steps echo in the deep waters the duskfall clad in shadows counting hours drops splinter the path from the edge of the world while all is beautiful under a dying sun
there is nothing in this world no life left in emptiness those you fear are afraid of no one you are alone and you don’t know where and your eyes have gotten used to the dark
one more wandered with hands in the moss while drops splinter the path from the edge of the dark tomorrow all will be dead under the sun

A great song for when your heart is grieving.
VAST - Touched
Touched, you say that I am too So much, of what you say is true I'll never find someone quite like you again I'll never find someone quite like you, like you
The razors and the dying roses Plead I don't leave you alone The demi-gods and hungry ghosts Oh God, God knows I'm not at home I'll never find someone quite like you again I'll never find someone quite like you again
I, I looked into your eyes and saw A world that does not exist I looked into your eyes and saw A world I wish I was in
I'll never find someone quite as touched as you I'll never love someone quite the way That I loved you
