It's not really recent (though it's only the question of perspective) but one of my favourites: HAIR; and I'm just watching it right now on TV.
This is a film which I know by heart, from seconds to seconds. I like the way how Milos Forman deals with the theme: war in Vietnam, light drugs, social issues, rebellion against norms and friendship, so I think it's a must.
Berger (the protagonist) is now dancing on the table singing his famous song ( got life, mother I got laughs, sister .....)in his jeans on a luxurious party for upper class people tied in their hipocrite ethics and soon comes the prison wth the famous Hair song etc.
Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair Flow it, show it Long as God can grow it My hair
I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty Oily, greasy, fleecy Shining, gleaming, streaming Flaxen, waxen Knotted, polka-dotted Twisted, beaded, braided Powdered, flowered, and confettied Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied! ;D

BRII, it has some of the same in it, but the storyline is a lot deeper Hehe, I watched this on the weekend! Actually I didn't enjoy it as much as Battle Royale I. BRII tried for a deeper storyline with the America vs terrorist sub-plot but it didn't offer anything we haven't already seen. Also, at 2.25 hours it was waaay too long. I am violently against movies that are unneccesarily long. A simple put-schoolkids-on-an-island-and-make-them-kill-each-other scenario doesn't need much of a plot - and I thought the first installment was successful because the filmmakers realised that.
