Ok, as Tina posted hers I remembered that I promised to do as well... From this weekend there's the chocolate cake of dead Santas: We just buried all Santa Clauses that were left from Christmas there. Then there is the apple pie (which is not a pizza, and it's also nothing fried on top of it ): Considering that a friend of mine brought a huge piece of more chocolate cake yesterday I must say that I really cannot see any cake anymore at the moment

It's some cinnamon-sugar stuff on top of the apples.
Cruel you that you eat them poor Santas alive!

I got one of those Santas for x-mass, but totally forgot to eat it and left it in the kitchen cabinet till January. Poor Santa But he's in a better place now! And Socke, the cake looks great! And the apple pie looks like pizza with fried potatoes on top But still I bet it was great!

One of my fave desserts: beer beer pancakes. ;D The great thing is that they're even tastier cold (that's why I've rolled them), as the meeting of beer flavour and vanilla is better enjoyed. Unfortunately the best strawberries we had this year, kant be seen in this pic...because they're in the jam and in the pancakes. ;D Attachments:

For her cooking class, my daughter has to make a burger, so... knowing that I have eaten more than a few burgers in my life , she asked me for suggestions, but the catch is, it must be a "healthy" burger... whether tis the Byzantine histories I have been reading, or the Orphaned Land video Wolferin posted recently I can't say, but there was Levantine inspiration in the air... this is what we came up with: Mini pide (turkish bread), warmed in the oven, split in half. Rocket (lettuce) leaves on the bottom half of bread. Thinly sliced tomato on the lettuce. Then sprinkle the tomato with generous amounts of dukkah. Now comes the "meat": four piping hot falafels broken into pieces. Then yoghurt and garlic dressing. Sprinkle finely chopped, fresh mint leaves over the dressing. Lay strips of fried haloumi on top, put the top half of the pide on. It was incredibly good! Superb flavours. If she doesn't get A+ for it, I want to know why ;D

To the surprise of someone I made a pudding today, with pasta , lots of eggs and sweet cheese, highly flavoured with vanilla and lemon (those two I frequently use as they go together perfectly). It was very common during comunism here to make a dessert out of nothing or whatever one could find in the stores. And this was one of my favourite desserts....still is. And looks like this year I got a cooking nostalgia by trying these ''emergency'' recipes again. Attachments:
