If I dig Korpiklaani, is there any other Finnish or Euro bands that I might appreciate second to Korpiklaani?
Have tasted, Sonata Arctica, Turisas, etc - all good but I am really loving this whole Hummpa thing. It relates to Aussie/Irish Folk sounds in so many ways...
Any help would be great!
P.S last thread tonight I promise, Found out today my wife is having a boy next year, the Vodka is flowing........
P.P.S Do have Finlandia Vodka in........Finland? Is on sale here in OZ at the moment...Any good?

There are no bands really similar to Korpiklaani imo. But there might be some bands you would like: Skyclad, Eluveitie and Metsatöll. About the wodka, i have tasted the Finlandia, but i like the Korvenkoska wodka far better, but it is a matter of taste of course

I'm going to add Schandmaul and Svbway to Sally, then Corvus Corax and In Extremo, though the last two have a more medieval than folk element. They are all quite powerful though and occupy all kinds of instrumental arrangements that go past the standard metal band.
I'm not touching Elakelaiset just right now..

I'm not touching Elakelaiset just right now.. I am, because IMO they're musically more similiar with 'klaani than any of the bands that you or biggsy recommended Eläkeläiset is atleast worth a try even they are just a humor band. They play "humppa" covers of infamous rock and pop songs in a really drunken and catchy way. They and 'klaani have both an unique overall good mood and defiant attitude in their music. Actually I haven't come across another metal band that would have anything but really distinct musical relations to 'klaani. I personally would recommend Flogging Molly, an US-irish "punk" band that uses traditional instruments. They have loads of good drinking songs ;D Edit: How can anyone NOT like them? ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfBS0Be7EFc

Finntroll uses some humppa meter and yoiking in their music; I'd recommend Jaktens Tid.

Most people here know this, but did you know that the joiking was done by Jonne?
Some people say that In Extremo (German band, medieval metal) has similarities with Korpiklaani.

BWAHAAHAHA!! *rofl* But what the HELL are they singing?! ;D And Flogging Molly is good indeed ^^ You can pick just one of these or combine them for every song: 1. Playing humppa 2. Drinking 3. Hitting on grandmas 4. Beating teens 5. Drunken life of an unfortunate old man (often named as "Aimo") That particular song is 80% about "1. Playing humppa" and 20% of "5. Drunken life of an unfortunate old man" ;D
