I think it says it all in the end "And it's only the giving that makes you what you are". A line to live by. I had this song played at my wedding, when we cut the cake. Crumbles and all Jethro Tull - Wond'ring Aloud for good solid relationships. Let me take my hat off to you, Salamandra. I should be ashamed that being such a Tull fan I didn't mention this one, though maybe it was because I don't consider it a rock song, even though it is on one of the best rock albums in history. Definitely a delicious song, such a sweet melody, such a bittersweetness in the lyrics... because the voice really has some doubt about what's going to happen with this relationship... he doesn't like her "spilling crumbs on the bed" and so he shakes his head in reproval. I think in fact this is something everybody has felt in the begining of a relationship, these doubts, the "what's going to happen, will it last forever? will it be good? I'm sure it never go wrong"... of course then it goes wrong, it always go wrong sometimes before even it has started. Well, definitely a MUST to everybody who wants a sweet melody to have forever at heart.

Actually, I´m not a fan of lovesongs, kitsch and so on. ;D I like more those, that bring back memories of beautiful days and moments, like:
Nightwish- Ghost Love Score Samsas Traum- Liebeslied (ok, the Title says "Lovesong", its on a CD, the artist called Blackmetalalbum... with influences of Satyricon, Disscection and Blind Guardian!....gnaaa ^^)
edit:
I finally found a very romantic and poetic song on my PC. Its Dornenreich- Woran erkennt mich deine Sehnsucht morgen?
A song about a couple, thats deeply in love...but somehow one of them leaves (or dies? I don´t know excatly) one day...and tells the one, that remains not to be sad or be in grief...because the other ones spirit will be always there and visible...either as a quiet pond or as a wind in the fields...

Haha, I've waited for long to be able to reply to a thread like this. The two favourite love songs of mine are Mourning Tree by Leaves' Eyes and Sleeping Sun by Nightwish. I just love Mourning Tree because of Liv Kristine's (one of my fave vocalists ever) beautiful voice, the mood of the song and especially the lyrics that touch me deeply. Sometimes I feel that I could have written the lyrics myself. Sleeping Sun is an ever favourite of mine, probably The Best Song Ever. The original version sung by Tarja Turunen is bombastic yet fragile, and the lyrics are poetic yet easily applicable to one's own life. Nice love songs that I recommend to everyone are the songs by The Dixie Chicks. The song Travelin' Soldier is about tragically ending love between a girl and a young soldier, and again I could have written the lyrics myself, so deeply it touches me! And I just love the story behind the song Cowboy Take Me Away: the violinist of the band Martie Maguire wrote the song for her sister, the guitar/mandolin/any instrument with strings playing Emily Robison when Emily was getting married.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - As I Sat Sadly by Her Side. the best love song ever written in my opinion! the way he describes the whole scene and.. just amazing! and his voice.. and the.. the video is so simple yet so wonderful! you must check it out www.youtube.com/watch?v=__MOjSyLgNc i especially love the part where he sings 'ugly useless and overinflated' and there's a view of an explosion of an atomic bomb and another one from Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - (Are You?) The One That I've Been Waiting For? one more best love song ever written! www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_4XbSkT4cg&feature=relatedNick is a genius! i just love that man and his band i would post one more, but maybe it would be too much

For me the greatest metal love song is very close to home It is Under the sun by Korpiklaani It may be an uncommon love song, but for me it gives the essence of love and trust... with a little plea also in it. It's also very high in my list, despite being quite fast for a love song. Other ones are... Feel For You (and few others) by Nightwish, Space-Dye Vest by Dream Theater, Lovesong by The Cure (it's wonderful), I Will Stay by Hurriganes, Sear Me MCMXCIII and Sear Me III (and others) from My Dying Bride... Are You the One? by Timo Tolkki. Very many of Sonata Arctica's ballads. System of a Down's Lonely Day... Some CMX songs... Very many of Entwine's songs. And HIM's. You Are the One by Sentenced. Also Alice Cooper, Charon, To/Die/For, Poisonblack, Stratovarius, HammerFall, Rammstein, Mokoma, For My Pain, Type O Negative etc. have songs I regard very important in this kind of category... Gaa. So many to list... it varies, so hard to name one... It would change qiote soon. Well, I'll name the one which feels most like it right now... But it might be different tomorrow. :S Sonata Arctica - Shy. ..Hm... This one might not change very quickly after all... Anyway, sorry for the novel here.

Yam! My man inspires me in so many ways: one day he's my only one , Under the sun', or ,tis Friday l'm in..."(THE CURE cures), next l say ,,tanz, mein liebe, tanz" (Lacrimosa's Elodia is sth....^ ^), then l take some of David Coverdale's songs&lyrics and sing it to him (,,in the still of the night"), or sth from Within Temptation, The Gathering........it's a rolling collection all the way! long list for an already longlasting love story....

Under The Sun... Korpkilaani were introduced to me with this song, by good friend of mine, Victor Losev (R.I.P.), it was in summer'07. Since that day I'm Korpiklaani fan. Under the Sun was Victor's favourite song, and it associates for me with him. Half-year later, he died. So the morale is - even the best and the most positive love-song may provoke melancholy in you. So, my favourite love-song from Korpiklaani is Kirki If a land-loving song (Native Land), or beer-loving (Beer Beer and many others) count as love songs, I'd also choose them. Honestly, I do not listen to much love songs at all...

That's a great song, though I'd choose Don't Know What You've Got ('Till It's Gone) for a Cinderella song... on the other hand it's also the typical one. CInderella, a corny group I like to listen now and then, tons of elegance and style
