Question for Korpiklaani: I am trying to somehow start my own folk metal band and I live in the southern US. No one around here really knows about this genre at all unfortunately. I've been playing flute for around 9 years now and am still learning guitar. I want my music to have obvious pagan and various folk influences. Do you have any information or advice to offer me in my journey to what has been my dream for a long time? I hope you all are well! Thank you for the amazing music! ***I was also wondering what sort of flute do you use in Surma and Tuli Kokko and other various songs. I wanted to learn to play Tuli Kokko. Is it possible you could message me the flute part in that song? If not, I understand. Thanks again!

What is the name of the song Korpiklaani use for their stage intro? I've seen them live three times (fourth time in December upcoming ) and I've always wondered what it is.

This topic has been dead for some time, but let's give it a try...
What do the band members think about the old religions that were in before the Christians arrived to Finland, ie. what do you think about Ukko and the spirits of the forest personally? Do you visit Seitas in the northern Finland? Or are the themes of the songs one things and the believes of your daily lives another?

Since not many bandmembers visit here often, i'll tell you what i know about this.
The themes of the songs correspond to the believes of at least part of the band.

Good night all of people, and the fans of Korpiklaani. This is the first time of my visit on official site, and i don`t know the English and Suomi good, because i live in Russian Fedeation, and we don`t have a lot of teachers of Suomi, and our known in English language is not so good, that`s why i do not understand all of text of Korpiklaani songs, but they insurrect in my soul a folk metall seed. And i`am really happy for that! Korpiklaani is the mightest Scandinavian folk metall band! My wife will kill me, if she knows about that, that`s why don`t worry about my post, it`s only a soul dash from me (sorry for my english, and excuse me that i`m do not speaking on Suomi,i`m trying to do my best, but i start learn Suomi about 3 month ago).
Good luck people, and let the force be with you!

Greetings, guys!! I would like to know what is the meaning of the symbol that appears in the albums... That figure that appears in the background of Spirit Of The Forest or in the Drums ... Ty xD ⚡⚡ Sorry for the late answer, I know that your post dates from december but I only created my account some weeks ago. I don't know if you found your answer since the time but I will try to help you ! Do you mean this symbol ? If yes, this is the Shaman symbol. It represents a shaman holding a shaman drum in his right hand (on the left of the symbol) and holding a drumstick in his left hand (on the right of the symbol). These kinds of symbols were typically drawn by Sami people on shaman drums as you can see on this photo. If you want to read more about it, here is an interesting article on wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_drumAlso, before being known as Korpiklaani, the band was called Shaman and you can find this symbol on the first two albums: Idja and Shamaniac.

Before Korpiklaani, there was Shaman and it all started with Shamaani duo. Jonne and Maaren Aikio singing and joiking songs at the Hullu Poro, in Lapland. Jonne went on with his bands, but Maaren stopped. Still, their album Hunka Lunka is a true gem. Sadly Maaren Aikio died suddenly and unexpectedly on June 4, 2018. She was only 40 years old. She will be missed most of all by her kids, by her family and friends, but also by the audience she once had and still has. In the news there was a lot of attention about her passing away. (p.e. www.is.fi/viihde/art-2000005706339.html)We wish strength to all that loved her. Voimia!
