Well, I always wondered - how many words for "woods" are there in the Finnish language? are there even more than korven and korpi? Excuse me, if I made some mistakes, which I probably did, as i am completely unfamiliar with Finnish grammar.

@ Joe: There are many different synonyms for woods. Here are few that I remembered: Metsä, korpi, aarnio, aarniometsä, sydänmaa, lehto and metsikkö. E: Ofc there are different "words" on different accents too, like: Metsä= Mehtä etc. So there are different words for woods and different words of those words because of the variety of accents

"Metsä" is just a "forest" in general, "korpi" means nowadays a really deep forest, though Jyrkäs told that once it meant a marshland. Aarnio and aarniometsä mean really, really old forest, "lehto" means grove and "metsikkö" is a small small spot of forest, but large enough to actually be a forest rather than just an "island" in the middle of a field or so. Does someone else want to explain the different words that we have for snow next? ;D

native: Russian - Romanian (I've been learning that more than a year but my results are rather poor) Privet, there! Well, ja, it's not an easy language to be learned that quickly.. I know, it's my native one. ;D It's rich and does not have a simple grammar, though if you're Russian that probably doesn't scare you.
