Hail trolls!
I'm a folk metal fan from Denmark!
I've read the book Seitsemän veljestä (Seven Brothers) several times, and was wondering if Korpiklaani ever have thought about making a song about this great novel?

Aleksis Kivi's Seitsemän veljestä is one of the best novels ever written!! It's the first whole novel written in pure Finnish language. Once I thought myself that I would make an song in Kivi's poem Metsän poika (Son of Forest).. But not anymore thought.. "Terve metsä, terve vuori! Terve metsän ruhtinas! Tässä onpi poikas nuori, esiin käy hän voimaa täys' kuin uljas tunturituuli! Metsän poika tahdon olla, sankar' jylhän kuusiston! Tapiolan vainioilla karhun kanssa painii lyön, ja mailma unholaan jääköön!" -Aleksis Kivi: Metsän poika Great idea!!

Funny that you asked because making music about the book is been in my mind already a long time. Not in next one but maybe on the album after that.

Aleksis Kivi is one of my favourite authors. The Finnish national writer. He is also good with his lyrical poems. You could do many fantastic songs out of it.
"Tuonen viita, rauhan viita, kaukana on vaino, riita kaukana kavala mailma!"
-Aleksis Kivi: Sydämeni laulu

I read the bok 4 years ago and I was absolutely amazed. I specially loved the tale of the white virgin (I think she was called the white virgin?) and I thought on writing a song about it divided in three parts, just as if it were a mi E.P. But well, my musical talent is absent and I can't turn wrong something so beautifully done as this story, and even less the whole book. I really enjoyed that book; I remember that after reading a lot of fucking bored books, I borrowed the Seven Brothers from my FInnish teacher, (who is the translator into Spanish, also she translated Kalevala writting it in Spanish verse with the help of a poet, who actually I think is her husband) because I had to do some homework in order to pass the course, and I didn't read it, I devoured it! As I wrote on my homework, when reading it the smile returned to my face. One of the best works of humanity!

I'm from Slovenia and I read Seven brothers some time ago. Not whole book because I had to return the book into the library but I'll borrow it again and continue with reading. I was pretty surprised that it's translated into Slovene!

Hey can you translate this poems Holtiton or maybe Jonne? It's hard to translate poems in English, because they lose always something their own when you translate them from Finnish to English.. (also when translating from English to Finnish) Poems, lyrics, and even novels are straightly directed to language from which they are born. But.. Here's some free translation: "Terve metsä, terve vuori! Terve metsän ruhtinas! Tässä onpi poikas nuori, esiin käy hän voimaa täys' kuin uljas tunturituuli! Metsän poika tahdon olla, sankar' jylhän kuusiston! Tapiolan vainioilla karhun kanssa painii lyön, ja mailma unholaan jääköön!" "Hail forest, hail mountain! Hail you king of forest! Here comes your young son, filled with strenght like a proud mountain wind! I wanna be a son of forest, hero of a wide woodland, In the plains of Tapiola I wrestle with bear and let the world go by!" And here's Sydämeni laulu (A Song From My Heart) "Tuonen viita, rauhan viita, kaukana on vaino, riita kaukana kavala mailma!" Vale of Tuoni, vale of peace, far away is hate and argue far away is the evil world!" If you do songs in Kivi's poems, please make them in Finnish..

I don`t even knew that someone from abroad knows anything about Seitsemän veljestä story The book is very rare in Denmark. It was only released once in a Danish translation back in the 60s. My mother bought it back than and got so amazed that she bought several spare copies for family and friends - so I got one copy for Christmas some years back...

I have to admit that I never read the book. We were assigned to read it at school but I never finished it. Instead, I read a picture book and passed the test... Brilliantly... I'm kind of ashamed though. I just can never read the books assigned to me.
