I like Weissbier in general, there hasn't been a single beer of that kind that hasn't been REALLY good. I guess they only import the best brands in here though I got a 1l bottle of Hoegaarden from Ireland, that was a great moment.

but not every beer is good ... True... the beer you usually get in the region of Germany where I lived for 23 years is that damn bad that it tastes like the water you wash your dishes in, that's why I started drinking beer really late because I thought beer tastes in general like this. Fortunately it doesn't.

Don't know if it's any better than the cheaper ones, but atleast the bottle is cool ;D I should have my own bottle of Captain Morgan soon. We made a deal with my woman: If I cooperate in watching BBC:s serie Pride and Prejudice all parts together (it takes over 4 hours or even more, I don't remember correctly), she'll buy me a bottle of Captain Morgan. I've done my part. ;D

@ Socke You are so right, it´s the worst type of beer in Germany. I hate kölsch.

But that was at a birthday party, which perhaps had to be cheap At the last day before the summer holidays last year me and some friends got drunk after school at a little lake ... there we drank Franziskaner and it was really good ... so good that we couldn't stop ;D ;D ;D But how about a Beer-Thread

I was also surprised by Olvi Classic Chocolate Stout, it had nice dark chocolate flavor on it where all the other beers in their Classic series have tasted pretty much the same. Now I've been talking jibberish, it's Hartwall's brand and not Olvi's. And the can says it's porter but I still think it's more stout-like.

I was also surprised by Olvi Classic Chocolate Stout, it had nice dark chocolate flavor on it I really don't drink any beer, but when I read this, I have a feeling like I could try THIS one... chocolate flavour, I can't believe it. ;D Beer is always only a matter of taste, as you all have realised. There are some really delicious famous Bavarian beers here, but when I once gave one to a Swedish guest, he didn't like it at all. It was much too sweet for him, which is like an offend to all the Bavarian beer drinkers here who like this one best.

Fortunately it doesn't. so, where do you come from? From a town near Cologne (Köln). Oh, and I tried that cherry "beer" yesterday. I agree with Nordis, this fruit stuff isn't even bad but you truly can't call it beer.

Orca, I can't help but wonder where exactly you reside, because here in the Bay Area there is such an abundance of awesome beer, the likes of which I've never seen anywhere else!! Why just the other day, I saw a store in San Francisco that specialized in 300 varieties of just Belgian Ales alone!! It is beer paradise here...
So, while I'd be the first to say that all the Budweisers and Heinekens of the world are pure garbage, there are SOOOO many awesome, high quality beers to be had...
However, I would agree that Mead is a truly amazing thing, and given the choice I would actually generally go with sweet Mead over beer, as much as I love high-quality beer... ;D Though it is hard to find bottled Mead that's really excellent (if you know where to get it, please let me know!) The best Mead I've had was home-brewed by a friend of mine, but he lives on the East Coast, so, no more of that for me unfortunately!
