I'm sure of that. Hardly any way you can keep people around Cologne away from celebrations that have to do with carnival. Though I remember that one year when there was the war in Jugoslavia during the time of carnival, back then it wasn't celebrated. But Totensonntag sure doesn't stop any carnival celebrations.

Its not long until St. Andrew's day (Nov. 31). He is the patron saint of Scotland, though the day is much less to do with him than it is just a general celebration of Scotland and Scottish culture.
We also have Burn's Nicht (Jan 25) for the birthday of our most famous poet, Robert Burns. Other than those I can't really think offhand of any specifically Scottish celebration days. Hogmanay, I suppose (New Year's Eve) has its own traditions, I suppose.

Usually there's ceilidhs (folk dancing parties; with plenty of drink, usually), haggis, recitations of Burns' poetry (its traditional to read his "Address to a Haggis" as the haggis brought out) and so on.
At the ceilidh there will often be a toast to the woman (a speech extolling the virtues of women) by a man and vice-versa, as well as information about Burns' life and work - and singing, of course.
Ceilidhs are always worth going to, but Burns' Nicht ones are always special.

Yeah, its great. Actually, I think we have other poets we should celebrate just as much, but I suppose that might get impractical given how many we have...

Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää! Onnea!
Congratulations with independence day in Finland, today it is only 90 years that Finland can call itself an independent nation, but of course Finns have always been independent in almost every other way. Still, good to have your own country, rules, government and such!
