The christians here celebrate ,,good news" of Lent or something like that....but the main thing is that today a custom is to have fish ,so today l had many dishes prepared from fish only and that was excellent! We even had to go to sm's b'day party where, of course,at lunch we had fisk again! l like this celebration.

Fish... I hate fish. Maybe that's why I'm so stupid - fish is very good for the brains ;D But if we had this celebration - we would gather and get drunk, of course.

Harken! Today's Birds Day! They've returned since last week and Spring is finally here..a bit windy, but hearing the birds, watch trees in blossom...oh,but the wave carried me.. So, today kids built bird houses and put them on trees. They've also sang songs 'bout birds, recited poems...it's pleasant to see that.

Really? Yesterday we had an unofficial "Fool's day", it's celebrated at April 1st - and during this day everyone plays tricks with each other - but must of them are stupid (like "heeey, your back is white! haha, what a funny joke"). In college, the most popular trick yesterday was "Hi. You know, yesterday we had a teachers' conference, and they decided to kick ya out of the college... what a pity..."

I had in mind posting here some Easter traditions in Romania. I give up for it means to write at least 5 novels here... Although the orthodox rules are strongly rooted here, a bilion pagan traditions are in manifesto as well...syncretism manifests here like everywhere. If anyone interested ,go googling Easter Traditions Romania &convince yourself....if there are questions l'll answer and help you understand our customs. Happy springtime!

Also in Italy is celebrated Easten. It always falls on a Sunday, and the friday before we can't to eat meat and confectionery (and other things that now I don't remember). Like Christmas, we exchange a gift that consist in a chocolate egg (you can buy it in any supermarket).

Among many pre-Easter traditions, today there's happening an old pagan one (wrapped up by christians with other meaning) : giving food for the dead ones. As l have the cult of ancestors, l'll make some baked potatoes with aromatic plants&so on, plus dried plums (boiled for this dish) with caramelized sauce. If you need me l'm in the kitchen! ps: and salad! ;D

I think that almost all Easter traditions are adopted pagan ones. Yesterday I made Easter bread, called 'kozunak'. It is sweet, made of flour, bread brew, milk, eggs, sugar, butter and if you want some nuts, dried fruits, chocolate, marmalade. Here's a picture of it.

Haaaa! In Russia the "kozinak" is an sweet thing made from the sunflower seeds... and the Easter bread is called "kulich". It looks different a little: Yes, we paint eggs, of course.

Walkyrie, we paint boiled eggs. These are mine, I made them today - the tradition is Thursday or Saturday before easter, I prefer Saturday, not to stay too long before eating them. Crocodildo, I read a recipe for 'kulich' and for my Easter bread I combined it with another recipe by an old woman, so in my 'kozunak' there's s.th. from 'kulich'. ;D
