Elvenking is some sort of pagan metal with strong power metal influences.. *spit* I don't recommend. Most Elvenking is quite slow and lacking attention, but once listened to lots its actually quite good, to help u get urself into the band , i suggest you listen to the song "White Willow" firstly, then after that ull force yourself to listen to them

But it's just my opinion, don't let it bother yourself! i know timo & trio are neither folk / viking, but i knew that you guys must listen to them so i gave them a mention, they are awesome, also another band like Niskalaukaus is Kotiteollisuus, i highly recommend them. Kotiteollisuus is nowadays as soft as Niskalaukaus. The earlier Kotiteollisuus albums were extremely warfull, and had nothing to do with Niskalaukaus. IMO album "Eevan perintö" is the most heaviest album ever made in Finnish.. Timo Rautiainen's earlier band Lyijykomppania is IMO lot's of better than Niskalaukaus ever. Lyijykomppania sung about drinkin' booze and hard life, Niskalaukaus sings some fucking wannabe-Jesus - songs, which I don't like..

OF COURSE: THYRFING...and many others (Cruachan, Àsmegin, Otyg, Einherjer, old Vintersorg... at least parts, Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Korpiklaani... maybe not viking, but definitely folk)... actually to many to mention... it really has improved with Folk-metal-bands on the market... I really enjoy this developement!

Nordavind is fenomenal... it's probably the only album where I sing from the first to the last minute without understanding a word of what I'm saying...

You can get some Storm "Nordavind" 's lyrics at www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/storm/nordavind.html#1One of my fav albums, indeed! Not only because I love Kari Rueslåtten voice (I was a The Third and The Mortal big fan). The band that made me discover folk-metal was, of course, Skyclad!! I was glad to see that some of you have named them. As Twilightheart mentioned, it's nice to live this rise of the folk metal scene! Right now, I listen to: Korpiklaani Finntroll Àsmegin Lumsk Storm Thyrfing Otyg Ensiferum Einherjer Falkenbach Windir Gåte Some of them may not be considered folk metal, I know. Ensiferum are more power-metal but they retain enough folkish-like sound to please me ("Token of Time" is downright folkish if not folk). Gåte are not that much metal but they play folk tunes (folk-rock?). I specially recommed Lumsk and Àsmegin to those who haven't listened anything from these bands.
