A few years ago i bought her album Mattarahku Askai (In Our Foremothers' Arms) at Digelius in Helsinki - they have a lot of ethnic music. I think you can also order from them.
np: Ulla Pirttijärvi - They said he was a noaidi

That's amazing Strujka! I've been obsessed with her music lately, pretty much listening to nothing but it. She is one of my all time favorite singers now, and her Yoiking is so powerful and beautiful. A truly unique voice and so too are the songs. youtube sadly doesn't have any videos of her "In our Foremother's Arms" (of which I plan on alleviating soon), of which to me is one of the most moving and beautiful songs.

Thanks for the site, humppaporo, I'll have to see what they've got there. Bartbär: I thought the three songs above were from this exact album - Mattarahku Askai (In Our Foremothers' Arms) .. if I'm not wrong?

Yes they are, and actually the third song is the title track (I have never found it on youtube before, and spoke too soon before checking all the links! haha) that I find to be the most moving.
My other favorites (besides all of them) - The Traditional Sami Hat, He was Rich and Famous, and The Wedding Yoik for Inger-Mari and Sudhir... that's almost half the album right there. I really Love all the songs, but these are the ones I've played most frequently.

Reviving a bit this one too. With things unsaid, or what I recall now and think it's worth putting here. Must start with Auringon Hauta , as we talked of this in other threads , but not in this one, so I think it's rightful to. I don't recall any of us mentioning Kiuas, although .. The same goes for Loituma, which should be put on a list with remarcable Finnish musicians. If I am not mistaken , Hedningarna wasn't mentioned either. Fin(n)ishing in force with Gommi ja Pommi! ;D ;D

Kalmah I like a lot. Ajattara are not just my style, but sometimes are good for some moods. May be I've mentioned Thaurorod, but I like them and I'll put the video.
