For instance the guitarists out of drgaonforce are blindingly fast, I doubt they use any type of machines to aid them there. that is what I mean, people jip metal but most of the bands consist of highly talented musicians for the purpose that they can play fast complex material, the type of material that needs dedication and skill to play. Truly apologies for possibly getting stuck in this subject now and sorry if I express my following opinion in a bit ruder way, but I just got an urge for bringing up some point of views for the moment: The usage of machines etc. still does absolutely NOT mean that the making of music and the results from it would be any less talented/skillfull/dedicated/whatever alike. Naturally ie. I myself always prefer authentic instruments instead of any synthetic-ones, but unfortunately a statement that any other music style/genre/etc. would NOT require as much of dedication/talents/skills/<insert alternative again> as namely metal music gives at least for me mostly nothing but an impression of a certain lack in one's experience and knowledge within those genres/styles one keeps complaining about; no any offence towards anyone now. Although ie. I myself dislike and even truly hate certain styles and forms of music, it does absolutely NOT mean that I'd ever think that the players/composers/performers would not be talented/skilled/dedicated/etc. in what they do and maintain.

But to me, the music has not been made using talant and such. like dance music, it is easy to make and compose a song on a computor. I am old fashioned and prefer to compose music with instruments and then record it. NOT using any machines to help me create music, just record it.

NOT using any machines to help me create music, just record it. Even if one uses only ie. distortion, reverb and/or other effects in the real and authentic instruments that are played and then after recorded for a song, one has already used "machines" within the creating process itself as well, even though in somewhat minimalistic way of course. EDIT: For example I myself (again) have used distortion and some other effects in my completely acoustic and authentic kantele already when creating that very special-sounding background pattern in the lastest song on my Nostatus: Sanan synty -album. Experimentality realized by using those instruments, "machines" and all equipment alike that in general are at hands. Also herr Holtiton uses distorted kanteles in Poropetra's songs, even more than me in my songs, and I can say for sure that we both are still talented, skillfull and extremely dedicated in everything what we do within our very own musical expressions.

My dear people! If you have never visited the Balkans, you don't know what bad music is.Forget about Britney Spears, you should hear a genre called "turbo folk".It's a shameful forgery of traditional music with lyrics like;you pulled out a brick of the foundations of our love...I'll cut my veins...all that mixed up with a horrible howling voice...I cannot explain it.If we ever meet I will have to demonstrate that to you agreeing... i'm very open-minded, but i can't hear (black)soul... and i don't know why o.O i know soul-musicans are often more than only musicans, they are excellent artists and they have good skills to put their message, emotions etc. in their music, but i don't know what to do with it it doesn't touch me, i only become agressive while hearing such music and techno, dance, trance... i like them when they are mixed up with other music genres like with rock... in my opinion the mix of rock and dance is one of the best mixed-up-styles in the world ^^

Vargaskinn wrote about Balkan music? I guess, that she'll change her mind if she would hear 'Blog 27'. It's something about young polish pop-scene. Total shame, but there's one thing about it that I'm really scared: their promotor is one of the best I've seen. He made them famous even in neighbour countries. :/ IT is really-bad-music.

Well what I think about other types of music using computors to MAKE songs is not really easy for me to post. I did try to put it down but it is now working. Long explanation short, I dislike grunge, dance, trance, rnb and hip hop and crap like that. I have reasons but cannot word them right. Plus I am saving a huge discussion about this which might end up annoying people

ZOMG LOLZ WFT BBQ!!!/!! Don't diss grunge man!!11!!!1 I totally heart Eddie Vedder!!! But seriously, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains....I know you weren't around when grunge was big, and just because something is big does not necessarily mean that it has value. But Eddie and Layne's lyrics spoke to me very personally, with deep and painful insights. They spoke a truth to my teenage soul that helped me through some tough times and reassured me that I was not the only person who had gone through these things, and that I would survive and even grow from it. Different strokes for different folks, but those bands produced some stellar emotional tunes, and have a lot to offer beyond the hype.

In most of the cases the songs are played piece by piece (sometimes even note by note) and fixed together with an evil computer. Few are the bands that record their songs "live". I say that your reasons disliking so much music is that you haven't ever even listened them Listening is one thing totally apart from hearing. But anyways, let's keep this discussion running! Something interesting in here for a while

I am aware that bands record thier songs by each instrument at a time, or a section of the song on computor. What my point is that people who produce songs which is classed as dance or trance, their insturment is a "beat maker" on the PC. As in they create the song purely on computor. whereas Metal bands would create music on guitar, drums, bass, flute ect. As for Miss. Mary. I meant Nirvana, I cringe at the thought of Kurts voice of listening to the band. when I think grunge i think Nirvana, I shouldnt but I do, I do in a way like one pearl jam song, well which is a "new" song not back in the heyday. I like now, folk, pagan, battle metal, I love the folk elements. i like rock, all types of metal. But I hate the "trendy" music. They are all just cringing and I am kinda having difficulty getting my opinions into words, as I have always had that problem and end up insulting some one. So I a sorry mary, I meant Nirvana, not the other bands.

what kind music i hate is very simple cause there are hip hop, country and pop music...... i hate such music specially hip hop cause it is everytime the same kind of speaking and i dont like these stupid rythm! and i also dont like death metal cause you cant understand what they are singing.....and in my opinion good music is also that you can understand what the band want to say with their songs and not first have a look to the text and then know what the band is singing....i hate that!! i have to understand the text when i am hearing the song and not after i was looking it!!

As in they create the song purely on computor. whereas Metal bands would create music on guitar, drums, bass, flute ect. Now, I gotta fix this one. There isn't such thing as "beat maker", the closest thing would be a drum machine or some DJ equipment to mix songs and add stuff to them on fly. High majority of electronic music is played with keyboards and different kinds of synths. The sounds are ofcourse tweaked and even completely changed with PC, mainly using programs that simulate actual synths or then are just virtual synths and keyboards I must be pretty decayed what comes to listening music. Back in my 17's I used to listen a cd and read the lyrics at the same time, that way you memorized the lyrics easily and got a lot more out of the song. But I really haven't read the lyrics for years for some reason. Although I listen quite a lot music where the vocals are IMO more an instrument than a way to add lyrics to the music (or in a language I don't understand), I still buy every now and then albums that would be totally great instead of just being "good" if I bothered to read the lyrics. I've also noticed that you can get a lot more feeling on gigs if you know the lyrics, especially if they are really powerful or sing-a-longish

As for Miss. Mary. I meant Nirvana Fair enough, I never really got the whole Nirvana thing either. Apart from 'Something in the Way' which gives me shivers. All is forgiven Olli!

and in my opinion good music is also that you can understand what the band want to say with their songs and not first have a look to the text and then know what the band is singing....i hate that!! What about those bands/artists/etc. who use a language you possibly don't understand or you're not native in? One can't follow with any translated texts how the song really goes, and especially as the translations in general aren't even very detailed, specific or exact, as languages (namely now those languages which are of different origin and/or of different language families) work in very different ways compared to each other; it's completely impossible to capture and conserve all the very deepest meanings, features, elements and ideas straight from a language to another as they are/as they're meant, which makes the translated texts to very seldom give nearly anything of that original and authentic image, atmosphere and feeling of what the artists/performers/bands/etc. have had in purpose. Naturally I have my own ways to explore, discover and enjoy within different musical expressions and to find things out as I'm into languages, linguistics and cultures however, but the question is now directed to you and also others thinking the same way, heh.
