I guess it depends on how the digipack is done. Digipacks with separate booklets are better. I do agree that the corners get knocked... I think what I like about them is that they're more like vinyl covers, without all the plastic. Much nicer to look at. I'm not too fussed whether there are extras or not, although if there are extras I will always try to get the version that has them.

Much nicer to look at. i yearn for the days when vinyl ruled the shelves, and would go out of my way to get the vinyl versions of some records, as i am still not completely over the fact that i missed the Cruachan LP -The Middle Kingdom-

I've found myself buying a lot more vinyl these days - I haunt charity and secondhand shops, and of course eBay is totally addictive. I've bought quite a few Of the Wand and the Moon records.

Yeah, vinyl is definitely the best. I buy more cassettes than I do CDs these days, too, because they're cheaper. And I have a walkman, so I can listen to them whenever.
But for the artwork, vinyls are superior to everything, because it's so much BIGGER.

I stopped buying cassettes years ago, mainly cos they kept getting chewed up! I still have the ones that survived, but the sound quality is just too poor compared to cds.

I haven't listened to a cassette in... 4 or 5 years I guess.
Actually, all my cassete-decks are broken down due to lack of use. I tried to play my old band's demo the other day and it didn't work ANYWHERE. So I remain without listening to a tape. hehehe
Vinyl is cool, but I still vouch for cds. I'm not a nostalgic person by definition.

i have to say that i dislike tapes, and since i got the discman i have no need for them anymore; my only original tapes that survived so far are -Stronghold- and -Dol Guldur- from Summoning, -Night at the Opera- from Blind Guardian and -The Black Album- from Metallica, all of them quite worn out; it seems that the age of the cassette has passed for me

i also dispise tapes. summoning's tapes? cool! untill i buy a discman i'm stuck with the tapes too, but that's okay... yeah, some Czech label put the Summoning tapes out, some years ago... it was quite a common thing to see, since not many people in the East had CD players and underground music (of any kind) from the West (and the East of course) had to be put out on tapes to be sold

The only problem with tapes is that they're inconvenient, and that they wear out after years of heavy use.

Some Digipaks are difficult to open in the car while youre driving =) that sucks

granted some digipaks are poorly made, but one at least doesn't have to worry about the casing getting broken while the CD is being mailed. complications with opening digipaks while driving can be avoided by storing the CD in a 'CD-holder'. you know, those 'purses' where you can put a few dozen CDs in, and are closed with a zipper. i don't know if they have a special name.

We had one of those cd holder purse things, and the 'soft' material inside managed to scratch a load of our cds. Needless to say we were not best pleased.
