Band members are human beings as well, so what's the point in seeing them as entities of a higher level of some sort? I think, no one meant it like this. It´s not that the FANS see THEM as higher level, it`s more that THEY see THEMSELVES on a higher level... I mean, it`s THEM (those artists) who decide not to talk to the fans... it´s not the fans, who decided so. But maybe that`s what you meant... just turning it around.

Yeah, for example Dani Filth; my friend Agus and me were at 12 in the morning in december 1999 gig in Madrid waiting to have the chance to talk with him... he didn't stop even to say hello. Adrian did, and we had a pic with him; Gian nicely talked with some girls, and so did Sarah. During the gig Paul Allender saw us in the first row and saluted us and posed for a pic while playing... but Dani Filth remained just as pretentious as short he is... I no longer felt any admiration for him

But keep in mind that it isn't necessarily a sign of an asshole if someone don't talk to the fans in the net. Some of our members don't even have computer, for example, and some people just don't have time for that.

Some of our members don't even have computer, for example, and some people just don't have time for that. Yeah... of course... we all know that. Someone who has a job and a little child at home etc. probably doesn´t spend hours in the web, there`s full understanding for that. But that`s not the point, I think. > It´s more like Dave said: any artist passes you by before a concert, not even saying „Hello“, when 5 fans say „Hi“ to him. That`s a sign of pure arrogance and feeling like being better than the rest. I mean, it doesn`t cost you any money or power or anything to open your mouth for a second to say „Hi!“

I think, no one meant it like this. I know that of course; I just happened to express a thought that came to my mind when reading a couple of postings and in addition came about to sharpen my example a bit too much, heh. Mainly I commented to a situation where one considers it being something more or less bigger than life or what ever to be in contact or other ways have communication with them who in the end are no more than common human beings as well, having their studies, jobs, families, hobbies and life in usual and so on. Naturally there's dickheads all over among people anyway; an artist who thinks too big about him/herself, doesn't deserve anything else than a perceptible drop back to the Earth, as well as the most hard core "fans" should also open their eyes sometimes. These thoughts not meant to anyone here, I just happened to "think aloud".

Oooh, you`re very unlucky with your other favourite bands then! I can´t even imagine this... Almost all my favourite bands are talking/ mailing/ chatting with their fans.... Vintersorg, Naglfar, Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Thyrfing, etc. etc. / I even mailed with Quorthon for some months, when he was still alive. Okay, but I DO understand that maybe bands like Metallica just don´t have the time to answer to the flood of mails they probably get.... uh Trying to chatt with Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page would be a difficult thin ;D .. and .. wiith Miles Davis or Pat Metheny too ... hm...

Blind Guardian got me into power metal, and then I discovered all of the other genres and was amazed that all of these other bands from other countries had existed; and I almost immediately swore off nearly all American music. ;D
I don't remember how I got into folk metal itself, though, to tell you the truth. Ever since I started getting into metal, I usually download a couple full albums a day. I need to quit doing it, because the more I download, the more stuff I feel I have to buy and I already spend waaay too much on CDs and shirts and DVDs.

I don't know exactly how I discovered Korpiklaani... I heared some songs of them, liked it, and suddenly I heared that Korpiklaani would give a gig in Holland, I went to the gig, and became a Korpiklaani addict since than

my cousin heard metal all the time when I was young (really young when you're scared of posters^^)... And then all started with HIM... Then my cousin gave me Children of Bodom and because I liked the finnish music he gave me a Finntroll CD ( I think it was Jaktens Tid...)! That was 2002... and I loved that Party Dance Metal Sound so much so i buyed more and more pagan and viking metal... and that's all...and I still buy more and more pagan and viking metal...

I friend of mine told me about Flogging Molly, I instantly liked it. Then someone on a "what song are you listening"-thred told me: 'If you like Flogging Molly, you'd like Finntroll.' I tried it, and I liked it again. From the Finntroll website, I linked to several sites, including Korpiklaani, and KK was the site and kind of music I liked best!!!

but FLogging Molly is closer to punkrock than to metal. I' ve started to listening heavy metal, when I was 15. I've heard Deep Purple, and Nirvana, then my cousin lend me Dream Theater. And then the music became darker and darker ]:->
