nickname Kettu (fin.) means fox. I like to think that the fox used have a similar meaning in ancient european societies like the coyote has (had) to native "North-Americans". Okay, it might just be a flight of fancy, but in most folk tales and old traditions the fox is a clever, mischievous and cunning animal. I'm just the middle-thing ;D
avatar A bit off Paul Bonner's painting Trudvang, which (the bit in my avatar) depicts some trollish beard-jewelry made from stone/rock. I like Drakar och Demoner artists (Tapia, Bergting, Sjögren, Bonner, etc.), although I don't speak swedish and don't play pen&paper RPGs.

"Heiðinn Hermaðr" means "Pagan Warrior" in Old Norse I asked my friend to translate that, but I don't know if it is right (I don't trust him)

*does anyone know Old Norse pronuciation ? Quite much the same as in nowadays Islandic. Ie. your nick would be pronounced like it's written there, although all the possible exceptions etc. would take too much time and resources to be presented here because learning languages needs a way more different circumstances compared to that of a forum in the net, thus taking real lessons is highly recommended.

NIck: Dave is my name, David. The Rake... you better check it in the dictionary and you guess which one is the correct, though for those who know me, will find it clear soon. It has something to do with the Narrator voice of Byron's Don Juan, and it was imposed to me by my friend Agus, singer of Whisky In The Jar and partner at university those days... I loved the joke, so I took it as my name; nobody calls me Rake or whatever; in fact some friends of mine calls me Goldman, and the others just Dave because of Dave Murray, my favourite guitarrist. More explanations about the Rake thing is that it has acquired for me and my friends another different and private meaning that has to do with one lyrics I once posted somewhere in this forum; if describes my personality.
Avatar: I first had Wacko from a cartoon... this cat was crazy, I liked it for that; but it dissapear do't know why, so I searched and found this Coyote which is a great dfinition of what I am, somebody who always runs after but never catches what he wants... you can imagine the rest. The coyote is great for me, I'm asking everybody to give me as birthday present a big coyote teddy bear to have it with me in my car as co-pilot ;D

Hittavainen(/hittavanin) is a god that brings rabbits from the bushes. (Yeah, got bored with pathetic names like Lord Yxxxxxazzzhul or Blashyrgoth.. ;D) It's stolen from Mikael Agricola's infamous list of Finnish gods published in the 16th century. There he lists a few of dreadful pagan gods of Tavastians (/western Finns) and of Karelians, Hittavainen being Karelian (as was my grandfather). Agricola was a clergyman and the creator of Finnish written language. As a Christian he didn't pay that much attention to rural paganism, and some "gods" in his list are actually gnomes or spirits.
My avatar is a picture of a wax figure portraying a rural hillbilly drinking beer from a wooden pint. It's from an Estonian museum.

Hittavainen: why the MC Hitta? ;D Nickname: a few years ago I came across Eläkeläiset. For those who don't know this band I can tell they are covering songs, but not in an ordinary way. They always make their own funny interpretation. That counts for the music and the lyrics. Nothing better to cheer you up when you are sad, or to listen to on the way to a party to get in the right mood. I would never say that I love their music in the way I love f.i. Korpiklaani and Finntroll. But I often like their version more than the original ;D Eläkeläiset has a song, the first song I could sing along as non-Finnish speaker: "Minä olen poro, lailalalai, humppaava poro..." This together with Pekka Jokinen's nice drawing of a poro (reindeer) and the picturing in my mind of a humppa dancing poro, made it the first nickname that came up in my mind some years ago. I use this name for a long time in forum registrations. I still like it. My avatar is a wooden pint, made by a friend from wood of one of our trees and signed by Jonne. The pint is not mine, but the avatar is ;D (My van wouldn't fit in an avatar...too big!) ;D

MC Hitta comes from a Finnish child-technopop band Ella & Aleksi, where there are two kids singing and the music is some DJ/techno stuff. They have an annoying song called "MC Koppakuoriainen" (="MC Beetle"), and we just twisted it into MC Hittavainen. Jonne's son always sings it that way. I gotta get a minidisk recorder..

I just changed my avitar. It's Joan Baez. I found her first album today when i was cleaning and i completely fell in love with those classics like donna, donna, silver dagger and henry martin. I also respect her as an activist/a politican.

I'm pretty boring: my nickname is an Icelandic girl's name, and means the flower 'violet'. It's a cheesy nickname but I like it. And the avatar is just a picture of me.

Hitta is alive! Raise a pint for Hittavainen! As my explanation of my avatar was not too suitable, I'll give it a second try: This statue shows the teuton "Hermann" or "Arminius". He led the teutons in the battle against the romans led by Publius Quinctilius Varus who did not get any further than right to this point. This was in the year 9 before christ. In the sword it says: Deutschlands Einigkeit, meine Stärke Meine Stärke, Deutschlands Machtwhich means: Germany's unity is my strength My strength is Germany's might. For me as a patriot all this has a very special meaning.
