hi, every Yokels, Bards, Knights, Vikings, Rangers and so on... I'm new on the forum!!! I live in Belgium, in the french part of the country.. I read a Korpiklani's interview on a web site call Obskure, and in this interview, Jonne says that when he haven't inspiration, he goes in the forest and the mother earth inspires him and that the spirit of the forest give energy. And I have the same idea of the forest, so I would like walking in the old finnish forests!!! I do it here, in Belgium, with some friends we maked a hut in branches and cords...And we make meeting to talk about music, nature, horses and fantasy..

The imagination is more free when right kind of atmospehere. If you are not near the forest, you must drink beer enough and just close your eyes.

The best of my own songs are born, when I've travelled deep in the forest with my kantele. I live in Hämeenlinna, in Central-Finland, where the Aulanko forests are so near. Wandering in the deep forest is so wonderfull. In forest your thoughts run clearer, and your imagination is opened. It's also the best therapy I know..

It is indeed very healing and almost meditative... I love it especially at sunset. Very early in the morning...on a beautiful day...when everything wakes up.
Sometimes I'll sit on a fallen tree or stump and just watch and listen...
When it rains very heavy on a hot summer day it is also breathtaking in the forest.

Calm summer nights are absolutely the best, especially the few hours when the birds don't sing. Everything's just silent with thick mist floating above fields. And if there's a fire somewhere, the smoke rises stick-straight to the skies. That if what is an inspiring scene.

Here the forests are too small and the rules to strict, no fires allowed . Sometimes I walk in the forest by night, but it's almost never dark and silent enough, we have so much light pollution and traffic noise, it's hard to find real dark, quiet places. mist floating is also early in the morning, everyone sleeps... @southern troll: that must be frustrating, you have the most famous forest in the world and you cannot enter it?

I miss living so close to the forest. Where I grew up, we were very near to the Wyre Forest (Midlands UK), and most of my friends lived only a five-minute walk from the woods. We had a hide-out down there, and frequently spent hours together climbing trees, paddling in the stream and other silly stuff, we even got drunk there. Good times, I miss it.

the nearest forest here is on the otherside of the road... but it is just a little one... big bigger is not so far away either... but i like those little ones too... i dont think i could live without forests... im just too used to them, and i love them. its like no matter what direction u watch here, u can see a forest somewhere... if it wasnt so, i dont know what i would do... and forest with lake is even more perfect... i think i get kinda power from forest... specially if they have stones and rocks there, coz i love stones and rocks...

Also here all forests are protected and you are only allowed to walk on the main routes, because the Neanderthaler ( who you might know) was found some 5km from my house and they want to keep that "historical good". I like forests more in the winter. Then it seems like the world came to a standstill. Nothing moves and sometimes there arent even any sounds. But for that I have to travel to Finland. I also cannot wait to see the Northern Lights my own one day. They are already awesome on pictures and they must be really stunning in real. Though they can also be quite pityful =P
