How was it??I don't know about the other gigs, but the one in Arnhem was unforgettable, excellent, awesome, never seen such a great gig before, I wrote that already in 'good & bad about today'. Were all gigs this excellent? I haven't read many reactions yet. I know that Jonne felt terrible and was ill, I'm sure that no-one (who didn't know already), could have noticed this in Arnhem. How was Summer Breeze? How was the experience for Korpiklaani and co? I want to add some remarks to what I said in 'good & bad about today' Jonne was extremely charismatic and vivid on stage, continuously busy with singing and playing and interacting with the audience in a unique way. Cane did roughly the same, was also very involved by the audience, which valued that tremendously! Juhokusti seemed very serious and played very concentrated. Same goes for Jarkko. Both had their moments of interaction but were obviously more involved in playing. Hittavainen is a chapter in itself to watch, he seems very concentrated but was also involved in the interaction with the public, very excellent player! Most undervalued man in the band must be Matson, hidden behind his huge instrument he is hardly visible (as goes for all percussionists), but I saw the enormous enthousiasm and dedication with which he played the drums in a great and utterly rhythmic way! I do remember which songs were played, but not the exact order. Overall I can say that the songs compared to the ones on the cd, are more lively and they seemed faster than on the cd, but that is almost impossible. All bandmembers played extremely well and in great ensemble. That, combined with the special atmosphere that I've never watched this strong with any band, makes Korpiklaani's gig unforgettable.

Okay, I have my pictures of Korpiklaani online, at last! Due to the big crowd in the small hall (more: room) and especially the very bright backlights the pictures are not as good as I would have wanted. I think this gets only worse, because the crowds grow and grow (luckily). I wish I had the opportunity to take pictures by daylight, so much easier. Maybe sometimes on a festival... the rest of the pictures are here: www.feelfreefoto.nl/series.aspclick on the serie image. Click on the smaller images on your left side (next to the larger picture) to shift.

So we can enjoy Korpiklaani more often, but of course!! In the Netherlands the place was sold out ( I'v heared some people even couldn't get in). People came from all over the country and I saw many Korpiklaani T-shirts! A lot of people seem to know most lyrics by heart, surprised me too, this many devoted fans! But hey, Korpiklaani is really a great band, quality always wins (I hope)! *Was also great to see you in real live!!

On metalfan is a review from the Arnhem gig with some pictures. Translation: Korpiklaani, Bolthorn and Elexorien, on august 18 2005, in Arnhem
review by Lana Pictures by Saar
Nowadays, it’s totally awesome in the Goudvishal in Arnhem. It is crammed with live metal and there is something for anyone’s taste. Did the roof go off last week on Suffocation, this week was it Korpiklaani’s turn, the cheerful Finnish hoydens, to go for it. This was the only gig in the Netehrelands of this lively six, so it was hardly surprising that so many folks came to see them. That it was on a Thursday doesn’t matter, because for Korpiklaani everyone would ignore neck pain the next working/schooling day. Assisted by Elexorien and Bolthorn, Korpiklaani roars to the folk top!
Just after half past eight started Elexorien... (this large part I’ve left out, not because it’s not interesting, but because I really don’t have the time to translate all this and it is not about Korpiklaani)...After the last notes of Bolthorn everyone anxiously awaited for what was to come. Lot’s of people swarmed around the stage. A huge antlers was put on the microphone stand and the Korpiklaani’s climbed the stage to get their things battle ready, but disappeared again. The stage remained empty (apart from a person who adjusted the drums) and many spectators looked on their watches/mobile phones. Things drew out and as many visitors know, the NS (Dutch railroad company) isn’t exactly man’s best friend, especially during the week. Korpiklaani started at 5 minutes to 11 (originally they would end at 23:10) and because of the train departure many people had to leave long before the end. They did it very unwilling because after the first notes of ‘Journey man’ it became immediately clear that this performance would enter the history as an enervating show sparkling with energy, enthusiasm and fun. Dressed in Tundra-outfits the band members inflamed the crowd en especially singer Jonne wasn’t able to stop and jumped like a rutting oryx round his microphone.
It became immediately clear that Korpiklaani would be the star of the evening, but when ‘Hunting song’ started, the crowd went mad. In the pit a seething crowd came to it’s climax, sweat splattered around and the roof went off (again).
Logically most songs were taken from Korpiklaani’s youngest ‘Voice of wilderness’, besides ‘Wooden pints’ and ‘Before the morning sun’ ( and some pieces from ‘Spirit of the Forest’). In mind the overrun of time, the band went full speed, but that didn’t matter. Exhausted but satisfied bounced the car-driving or nearby living crowd home: "Ayayayaya, hunting is going on, we are a part of the wilderness...!"@moderators: I put it in this thread, but if you should decide that it should be somewhere else, feel free to move it...

I'm still not over the fact that I missed the gig in Arnhem. I just couldn't get there, so I had to miss it. Next time, Belgium, okay guys? Your popularity here has skyrocketed by the way, I see the name Korpiklaani popping up on almost every board I'm on.

I checked the Summerbreeze forum and you've made a lot of new fans!! some quotes: I was looking forward to see them most, and they fulfilled my expectations completely! But Please, let them play longer and later next time! They were awesome! Despite of the heat I danced like a bear!!! Great band. Great atmosphere, Great setlist. Great albums. Great live! Awesome!!! I stood in front of the band and it really rocks! Imo one of the topacts of Summerbreeze. All comments were like this! Twi's pictures also speak for themselves of course...

What was the setlist on those concerts? Was it the same on all of the gigs or different? Which songs did Korpiklaani play? And were there also any from Shamaniac or Idja albums?
