Drinking and school, esp. college and university go hand in hand Actually I find it pretty funny that people associate having a beer or two and drinking until you pass out with each other. You can easily throw a small party and have maybe a sixpack at night and you'll be fresh as always next morning. Unless you weight 40kg or so

Ahhh uni...
Then one day you realise you have a job that starts at 8, a rent, you cannot hold your alcohol as well as you used to, and no longer get served cheap booze in the student union because you are too old and the realization, rather the epiphany comes: the world is a bleak place to live in.
Oh, wait. I went back to uni last year to do a teaching course, and the teaching colleges are the bleakest places in the entire freaking world. Food is bad, the coffee is awful, the staff are disgruntled and they don't serve alcohol in the bars. Just a look at the people sitting in the cafe and I realized teaching was not for me. ;D

Marduk, I'll disappoint you - I'm not an alcoholic, I never drink anything hard-alcohol (with more degrees than in beer are) and I never get home drunk (the last and only time was on my own birthday). Please, think next time before posting replies like this. OK, let's think that I didn't see this, and Marduk's seat was suddenly occupied by his 63-year old biology teacher ;D

I didn't mean that you're an alcoholic. I didn't even think like that. Sorry that you missunderstood my message. I mean that my friends doesn't drink boozers because they come from this kind of families. I drink only beer now, just as like as you

OK, please, accept my apologies, it was a long day for me today, and my head doesn't work correct Russian people apply any critics of their family with a really heightened sensibility. And I can assure you, that I was given a correct upbringing from my parents... maybe a little bit even too correct, so listening to metal and beer-drinking started as an inner form of spiritual protest. The kind of family you're from doesn't really matter. For example, my parents work in a eye-medical center, and we may be called a "family of moderate means". But I know a few guys from families that are not of a really big income - but these guys listen to R'n'B crap and wear fake "labeled" clothes, and, of course, they smoke dope instead of beer; and in our company there is a guy, whose parents are businessmen of european class, but he hangs out with metalheads and drinks beer, as we do. So - it depends only on your spirituality. But there's one difference - the rich guy drinks expensive beers, like Krusovice. And this returns us to our main topic, which's Favourite Beers.

No problem. It's good we have solved the thing up. As for Krusovice, I've never trid that one. Too small town, too less beers...

Hard to pick just a few favorite beers, but here are the ones I will never tire of drinking and enjoying: Boddington's Warsteiner Carlsberg Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat Leinenkugel's Berry Weiss The Leinenkugel beers are local to me, coming from northern WI. For all the ill repute dwelling on American beers, these are surely an exception. Jakob Leinenkugel emigrated to US from Germany and set up a brewery, and it's been run by his descendants ever since. They've got a very level headed approach when it comes to beer, and the two flavors highlighted above are very distinctive characters in their own right, very enjoyable and memorable. Berry Weiss is more of a summer beer, made from loganberries, blackberries and raspberries; Sunset What goes down well all year round and never ceases to cheer me up with its taste. If you never tried these two before, I highly recommend 'em

Ohh, Carlsberg is so crappy here... Or maybe it's because I don't like lagers. Warsteiner is also brewed here, but it tastes like our "Nevskoe Original", and is much more expensive. The other ones are not brewed here, but I'll try to find them in local super-markets, where are import beers.

From the lagers I like only Polish Żywiec. Used to like Heineken, but somehow stopped.

I love cherry juice by itself though. It reminds me of being in Munich in the summer... I keep going into Polish delicatessens to score some. Has any of you ever tasted Carling?l'm curious bout it and never found to buy one here.. Carling is just your average meat and two veg macro-brewed British lager. I have been known to enjoy the "extra cold" version. They tend to sponsor lots of music events in the UK, so its what you get in metal gigs and festivals- either Tennents (in Scotland mostly) or Carling. Reliable, predictable, I would not consider paying extra for the privilege of drinking it. It's probably not worth the "imported beer" price on it.
