The most pissing off thing in Tuborg and Miller is that they're licensed here, and when the brewery in Kaluga has started to brew the dark "Velkopopovicky Kozel Cerny" beer, it has became one of the best-sellers [because we don't have any dark beer else in the regular places, only the exported ones in the big hyper-markets, and those exported beers are too expensive for me]. So the russian Tuborg and Miller decided to make their own dark beers too, but their "Tuborg Black" and "Miller Dark" are still lagers, though they have darkened colour and a little differed taste, because of some shitty chemicals.

It's the same in here, many of the big brand beers are actually made in Finland and the "dark" beers by local major breweries are just the same light lager with colouring on them. That reminded me of Newcastle, which is "traditionally" full of additives and even colouring. Velkopopovicky Kozel Dark has also some sweeteners in it, just like many of East-European dark beers do. It was pretty funny that at some point finnish Pirkka Lager (Pirkka is one of those cheap brands like Euroshopper that have basically everything) was actually made by Carlsberg. I suppose it was just the same beer but in a different can and with a different price tag ;D If I remember correctly, the Murphy's that they sell in here is also made with a license in UK which sucks a lot. The taste is really different than on the original irish one, it has a nice smokey flavour which the english one lacks.

I'm not gonna speak for the Finns who may know better, but sometimes beers are especially licensed for export and can only be found in target marketing zones and not in their "home" markets. Could this be one of them?
That was the story fifteen years ago with an "American" vodka called White Eagle being sold in Moscow. No such brand exists in the States.

I guess I haven't replyed on this topic, lets say for obvious reasons ;D So my favorite beer for me is empty beer can/bottle/jar I'm not gonna speak for the Finns who may know better, but sometimes beers are especially licensed for export and can only be found in target marketing zones and not in their "home" markets. Yea Sandels is a Finnish beer, but you have to ask someone else to tell you how they like it, never tryed and I guess I'll never try And for me the White Eagle sounds like a whiskey, more than a vodka

We have lots of those stuffs here, when companies release new beers who are stylized to the Czech beers, or English ales, but they actually never existed. That really helps them to increase the sales We can often see Lapin Kulta beer here in the market, but it costs twice more than an average local beer. And you Finns may throw bricks at me, but it's damn crappy, like if they put soap into it. There is a whiskey here called White Horse, it's not very good, but drinkable. And there is a stylized whiskey called Black Horse, that is actually twice cheaper, but it's utter crap.

Tasteless, watery and definitely not worth any extra price that "export" might add to it. We can often see Lapin Kulta beer here in the market, but it costs twice more than an average local beer. And you Finns may throw bricks at me, but it's damn crappy, like if they put soap into it. Nah, we won't, since majority of finns think just the same. It's commercials tell how the beer is made with pure natural mountain spring water, and maybe that's why they want the customers to be able to really taste the water in it ND: Stadin Panimo's Jouluportteri (christmas porter). Really flat, yet thick and sweet beer that is a bit over priced imo. This is made by a local microbrewery here at Helsinki so atleast I feel like supporting a good small business when paying 1e extra for their beers. And yes, I know, it's not even 12am yet ;D

Their Fiddler's albow and Circle master aren't anything special imo. Anyway, you just have to love the whole concept of the brewery. Must-drink beers for folk metal people ;D

@nordis: GET.OUT! I would have never thought that the ales are on tap in Finlandia. The ones from the casks seems alot thinner than the bottled ones. I cant remember trying Galiath bu my mate always has them. Have you seen the Halloween version of Hobgoblin? Its the official beer at that time of the year. And to think, the brewery is 5 miles away from me!

And to think, the brewery is 5 miles away from me! Haven't seen that one. Unluckily all the alcohol drinks exceeding 4.7% are sold by a government run monopoly and they value wines way over beer, so their selection is usually pretty narrow. Nowadays almost every decent bar has atleast one ale and stout on the tap and even the lousiest ones have bottled ones. Our beer culture used to be pretty bad and one-sided but during the past few years it has just exploded and the selection is several times better than before. 5 miles away? You can really have your beer fresh then ;D yes we have dark and light ones.laško can be bought dark and normal. Becouse it isnt cheap, its unlikely to find it at metalcamp. There is only cheap booze I visited local Mercator and some gas station on my way there, but all I found was pale lagers
