Of course I haven't been in Europe for the past 10 months so I don't really know what's going on back there. My movie knowledge of the moment is very (unfortunately) Hollywoodish.

Ahum... I don't go to the cinema very often... the last one I went to see was "Return of The King", and I liked it a lot. From time to time I watch some movie on cable channels, but they're mostly oldies. Some movies I don't get tired of watching are Labyrinth, Star Wars. I recently tried to get some Finnish films but I had no success, even trying in Amazon. I have to reinstall Kazaa, it's better than SoulSeek for finding movies

I've heard brilliant things about the new Almodovar movie Mala Educación (Bad Education, Miseducationg, dunno?), but thanks to the Eurocup I haven't been in a cinema for a while now. Must... watch... football. Anyway, from the last I've seen: Kill Bill Vol. 2 - Less bloody and action-driven than the first, but I liked it better. The "Shaolin" scenes were brilliant. Troy had it's moments, namely the battle scenes... but they should've called it "Achilles and other stuff". O'well... Also watched, at home, Amores Perros by Iñarritu (the guy who directed 21 grams), also very good, but VERY VERY VIOLENT towards dogs, which bothered me a bit!

Oh my! I'd forgotten the last movie I watched in cinemas was Troy, not Return of The King I liked it, but forced myself to forget Homer's Illiad while watching it, otherwise I wouldn't have enjoyed it. Amores Perros is weird, not bad, and I really hope all the stuff against dogs is feigned. I don't really like too much Spanish movies, and I specially dislike Almodovar, sorry so didn't saw hmmmm 'bad manners' (?). There are some nice nice Spanish films though, but they're not so well known. Well, I liked Los Otros (The Others) and it's Spanish (I like Amenabar far better than Almodovar). If you can, get a movie called Memorias del Angel Caido (Memories of the Fallen Angel) and of course, El Dia de la Bestia (The Day of the Beast) ;D

the script of troy sucks!!!!!they twisted the story alot! although, i enjoyed the soundtrack!specially, songs that have some chick, which voice looks like Lisa Gerrards. the actrices are +-.they could have chosen a prettier actrice for Helen.definitely, she is pretty, but not as "divine" as helen is described. one of my favs recent movies its "undercover brother". bai!

And so is Los Otros. And also Abre los Ojos (The film which originated Vanilla Sky). About Almodovar, it depends. Some films I love some I hate, have to see the most recent ones. Anyway, I think the strongpoint of Spanish cinema are the scripts... just brilliant. The actors... well... so so.

Hei, great topic! Well, if I'm not wrong, the last film I saw was Big Fish... or a Spanish-Mexican film called Nicotina, but I preffer Big Fish, I liked it a lot. I like very much this kind of films that are just as a fable, and well, Big Fish has an oniric climate that I really enjoyed; those characters as the giant or the one that played Danni De Vito are very well constructed and very curious. The story in itself is great, just a tale; I think the film has what a film must have, a story, I mean, when you go to the cinema I think you must exit after being told something, and in this case you're told a beautiful story, and what made it best, with a very very very good ending; definitely the ending is what makes great this picture. I went to the cinema more often that I do now, my best friend is a scriptwriter, so we went a lot, but I felt a bit tired of so much cinema, so we decided not going so much, at least together; I love music as much he does cinema, but I never ask him to go to a gig, you know what I mean. So I havent' seen most of the last movies. I didn't see Troy, but it was 'cos I saw in the trailer this scene of the boats in the sea and I decided it was another hollywood exaggerated epic film; I can't stand when they take a book to make a film and they don't follow anything that appears in the book. About Almodovar's films, well, I can assure you that he is more respected abroad that in Spain; his cinema is too much personal, at least for me, I preffer another Spanish directors as Julio Medem, the one who wrote Lucia y el Sexo. Anyway, about La Mala Educacion, my friend the scriptwriter told me it was not so good film as All About My Mother or Talk To Her. I haven't seen neither Kill Bill, but I'm sure I will see the last from Michael Moore, despite all those motherfuckers which wanted to ban it in the so called "country of liberties". I like a lot Spanish films, but it's a pity it doesn't go abroad; as you said Andre, great scripts, but I dissagree with you in that about actors, I think we have great actors here, the problem is that they're nt specialised, as soon they're doing Theatre, Tv or films... they've got to change a lot the register, and this is not so good as it may seems. I think we've got far better actors here that for example in USA; and the problem is that our most international actors, Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz, are not good at all. A great actor is Javier Camara (Talk to Her, La Mala Educacion) or Javier Bardem, Luis Tosar etc etc. I remember a film called November, from Achero Mañas, about an independent theatre group, which was fucking A! but is the kind of Spanish cinema which will win awards abroad but never will be seen in cinemas Well, I think I've talked too much, sorry! It's just that when I find something interesting I can't stop talking, and since nobody can interrupt me... sorry, anyway! I've forget! Films I'd like to see: well I'm just waiting for a message from a girl to invite her to see those films, but I'm afraid she doesn't now I'm hanging on my mobile for a message from her ! Well, the films are Shrek2 and Harry Potter and the Azkaban... I also was waiting to have a date with a girl just to see Peter Pan... but as I'm afraid will happen with Harry Potter and Shrek2, I'll have to hire it from videoclub What a shitfull sentimental life I've got

Big fish was awesome, absolutely fabulous. About Troy, I have no problem with films that fuck up completely the book storylines, 'cause I separate the two completely. Films are ADAPTATIONS os books, not copies, well some are. I actually prefer when the films give a new edge to the stories in the books. Anyway, 9 out of 10 times the book is better than the film. Troy is one of those cases, yes it's exagerated, yes it's all about Brad Pitt, but still - I thought it was a good film. I'm a sucker for historical epic movies, specially the ones made in the 60's / 70's. There are few great spanish actors, Bardem is one of them, but most of them are very inclined to play stereotypes, just like in the theatre. When it comes to individual carachters with "minds of their own" and true profoundness of carachter, I can think of very few spanish actors with that abillity, but yes, Bardem is one of them. And Lucia y el Sexo ---> BRILLIANT!!!! One of the hottest and more sex-driven films ever... and it doesn't even have that many sex scenes. It's just... HOT!!! I admit - turned me on to an incredible degree. hehehehe shame on me...

I've only seen 2 movies in the last year: Return of the King which was fucking shit, and Dawn of the Dead which did the original justice by not sticking too closely to the plot.
