I've been re-watching some old favourites lately:
Pi by Darren Aronofsky - I like movies that make you think and don't give you all the answers, so there's something to chew on afterwards, but not so abstract that "any meaning can be interpreted", for example David Lynch films. The story about a mathematician is a great concept and the soundtrack adds to the unique atmosphere.
Wings of Desire - When I'm feeling a bit melancholic in my life, I like to pull this movie out and remind myself that everyone else has problems too, and there just might be angels listening to us all.

I´m bored of anykind of films at the moment! Please people recomment me something before i´ll turn into a film-hater I used to have this "special talent" for finding interesting directors and their creative work and i´ve seen many many inspiring movies and couple years ago, i couldn´t find a better way to spend my freetime than watch a movie. I even dreamed to become a professional myself ;D Now the magic is gone and the "un-pureness" of the films are annoying me. What I mean with such word is the the poor acotors who have to act for cameras and few people around them; They can always be inturrepted by the director shouting -"Cut! Cut!" or if the actor feels that this isn´t the right emotion to act such scene, he can do it later. Or when the actor finally gets in to the right mood, - the right athosphire then the crew wants to take a coffee break. These are of course just the fruits of my own imagination based on poor knowledge. But I still miss the good theatre! If all goes worse, then it goes. You cannot take the shot 2nd time.

once upon a time in the west :] www.imdb.com/title/tt0064116/ very nice #24 best movie in imdb. really cool western. its obvious it was directed by sergio leone. :] i watched "dr strangelove and how i stop.....". was nice, but i was expecting more because i read a user comment in imdb. i-ve been watching this top 250 and below 1970 movies cause of the guy that borrowed me the computer.l watche 2001 a space odissey. nice movie, in spite of being too boring for me. but i think kubrick kicks ass when it comes to photography and espeically soundtrack! impetuous and powerful songs during some scenes are really cool.

The black singer? He went back to Alabama and was received by a KKK committee I went yesterday to the cinema, to see a Spanish Film, "Oriente Proximo"... since you like some Spanish flims maybe you'd like this one Ina, though I'm afraid it won't be released outside Spain. It's about a Christian guy and an Islam girl in the neighbourhood of Lavapies, in Madrid,. there is where you can find more ethnic mis in the whole Spain. the Spanish guy is called Cain, and he has a brother, Abel, who is married but pregnants an Islamic girl. He leaqves to Canary Islands, and the girl tries to commit suicide, but Cain says he is the father and turns himself from Chirstian to Muslim. Is a good comedy. I always say one thing, HOllywood has gotmoney, and special effects, but they lack stories, those who could be lived by you or me. C'mon, I'll never be that winner who climbs mountains or lives inside a computer... but I can be that midddle aged guy that makeds love to a girls and she is pregnant. Tha's why I think European cinema is better than HOllywood one, I can be one of the characters. I also went to see Pirates and well, I liked it very much, although is worse than the first one. I don't know why people complain about the ending... well, it's just the begining of another film, nothing bad with it, in my opinion. Instead of a 5 hours film they've filmed two of 2.30 hrs. the problem in the film lies on the script. I think that the first film was beilliant when the 3 characters were together, but that doesn't happens till more than one hour has passed. They try to bring back the innuendo that takes place in the first film: "you've got this but in fact I got it though you may take it and I don't notice". They try to repeat the same for this film, but it's not as fresh as it was in the first... in fact it is sometimes rather confusing. But still it is a great film, quite well done (money money money), with some spacial effects, make up and costumes just amazing. I want to see the next one!!!!!

What I have to say about spanish cinema, is that you guys probably have some of the best screen-writers in the planet. There might be some flaws and defects in some spanish movies (mostly over-acting and excessive stereotyping of a few characters, also the sound can be pretty shitty some times) but one thing you can always count on when it comes to spanish cinema-making is a great story/script. I'll just drop two names know to nearly everyone to prove my point: Vanilla Sky (originally a spanish movie named Abre los Ojos) The Others (though produced outside of spain, it has a spanish director/screenwriter). Have seen the latest pirates of the caribbean... doubt I will now. Even though I am a complete movie addict, I rarely find the time to go to the cinema in the summer.... good plans abound. edit: I've been re-watching some old favourites lately: Pi by Darren Aronofsky - I like movies that make you think and don't give you all the answers, so there's something to chew on afterwards, but not so abstract that "any meaning can be interpreted", for example David Lynch films. Wings of Desire - When I'm feeling a bit melancholic in my life, I like to pull this movie out and remind myself that everyone else has problems too, and there just might be angels listening to us all. Pi = brilliant Wings of Desire = Masterpiece. Just had to say that.

Yesterday Me and Sawah watched Land of the Dead: The fil was quite good considering that it was very similar to dawn of the dead and night of living dead and such but the effects and atmosphere that was created was better than dawn of the dead (the remake one). There are some very jumpy seems and really realistic ones too

I watched pirates of caribbean: the death man's chest and i didn't like it...well, i didn't expect it to be a masterpeace but i did expect much more. As the ending proved they want people to watch to 3rd episode as well and i probably won't even bother to watch it, no offence. I must admit that this movie had few funny details and characters but it's too similar compairing to the first movie: I liked Jack Sparrow in the first movie but after realized that he's all the same and tells the same old joke, i got bored. It was fun to see that swedish guy playing Orlando Bloom's father though...what is his name...Stellan? Yeah, he's a good actor and his role was quite interesting. I also liked that bad guy looking like an octopus.
I also watched some american romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston. I didn't like it neither but it was better than romantic comedies usually are...It was quite funny to found out that the grandmother, mother and daughter accidently slept with the same man ;D
Now I finally have some movie what i'm really looking forward to: Volver. Almodovar is uncapable to direct/write/produce shit.

Shame on me that I haven't seen any Almodovar film! I think the same when I read your posts about ALmodovar's films . I don't know if it will be released in Finland, but keep an eye for some months and check if you've got the possibility to watch "Alatriste". By the way, have you ever seen any film by Spanish director Fernando León de Aranoa? I think you'd like his films. About Pirates... is the guy who plays the role for Bloom's father the same guy who acted in the Will Hunting film? And don't you think that the second part of pirates of the caribbean is poorer because of the distance among characters? I mean, in the first film the three main characters were together almost all the time, and I think that's what made Jack Sparrow more funny, the contrast between the other two characters and Jack. What do you think?
