@virva Holtiton: you're right about asking, but when I found it (a few month ago) I only downloaded because I liked it (i do this often, when I see something nice) I had no intention to use it somewhere. But when I was looking for a picture, I remembered the nice one I already had, and used it. I had not the faintest idea who's it was, or where I found it. Normally I only use my own pics (like the photo of the wooden pint, which was handmade by a Korpiklaani loving friend ) And thanks, that I'm allowed to use the elk-picture. I will! * BTW, today it's D-Day... Korpiklaani's official release date!* *Lot's of reviews are to come! Of course they will all be very, extremely and utterly positive!*

Ok, it just looked like a provocation to rip other forum members home pages (which I have made by the way).

Hittavainen: in the meantime I hope that it's clear to you that would never do such a thing (rip off someones homepage). That wouldn't be fair. It's just a coïncidence that the picture I found (some time ago) and used, was made by a member of this forum. I didn't find it by this forum as you know nowI've become very curious however about this website and will take a look, if that is allowed by you! ;D ) @holtiton: I added your name to the name of the picture in my database, now I will never forget who made it. I undid the modification and replaced the elks. This is my last post about this (very nice) picture in this thread. I think it's the wrong place for it.

I didn't see this review in this thread, but maybe I overlooked it. This one is in English... (metal archives/encylopaedia metallum)
Yet to disappoint - 100% Written by BorknagarCOB on January 13th, 2005
This album was actually held off to late January, but that's beside the point. For those of you who are more familiar with Shaman, this is completely different. Shaman was one of the more mellow and clean vocals and to the point. Korpiklaani is somewhat similar, with just a more metal influence. A majority of folk fans have heard "Spirit Of The Forest", the first release by Korpiklaani. It showed off some pretty catchy riffs, violins, and even flutes. This is almost same but much better. Jonne's lyrics are sort of "harsh" but go well with the music.
Track 1, Cottages and Saunas, the CD starts off with a bang. The intro to the song starts off with a violin intro, and just jumps into some aggressive riffs and great drumming. Jonne's catchy chorus also appears in the first track of the CD.
Track 2, Journey Man, starts off with drum rolls and an in your face violin to go along with it. The violin stays pretty fast paced throughout the song and slows down completely in the chorus. Then back up to the incredible speed. This is one of the songs on the CD that praises its violin/fiddle.
Track 3, Fields In Flames, more in your face guitar riffs and drums up to par. This track of the CD is where the guitar becomes even more of a part of the band and displays some raw power.
Track 4, Pine Woods, one of the GREATEST instrumental songs i've ever heard. Starts off with a flute intro and a steady beat of drums. It carries over for about 35 seconds and wow, the drumming speeds up and the guitar is thrown back at you. Around 2:20 the guitar comes to an end, and what sounds to be like a bango(?) drum is added and leads up to a great guitar solo mixed with a flute.
Track 5, Spirit Of The Forest, oh look a track named after their first release? Weird? Nah not too much, the song starts off with a what sounds to be chanting by Jonne. Followed up by a steady beat and more violins to boot. This song is more slower paced than what the first 4 tracks have shown. This track also includes a great showing of Jonne's vocals and what they can do when in harmony with the music.
Track 6, Native Land, this song opens with a sound of some type of accordian. This song is also fairly slower compared to the other tracks. Jonne shows his vocal power(less harmonic) and catchy guitar riff after riff. Korpiklaani has also developed some really catchy choruses.
Track 7, Hunting Song, a video of this was released before the CD was. The intro has a really nice riff to open with and more of the accordian sounding. After that slows down and a violin leads up to Jonne and his beautiful "shriek". The name pretty much says the lyrical theme for the song. "In the forest we go, hunting for deers".
Track 8, Ryyppäjäiset, this song definately opens with some in your face violin work. This is also an instrumental song that circles entirely around the violin(amazing work I might add).
Track 9, Beer Beer, with a name like that it has to be catchy right? Of course it is, the intro has another different sounding instrument I can't even describe. Who wouldn't like a song with nice guitar work and Jonne yelling "Beer Beer!" constantly? The song is very pleasing(especially if you have a beer handy).
Track 10, Old Tale, a very slow intro, it leads into about 1:36 and then more hard drum and violin work.
Track 11, Kädet Siipinä, Jonne ends the CD with a slow outro, and a very catchy one.
If you want the CD summed it, it can be described as amazing and probably one of the best, if not the best, folk metal album i've ever heard(and im meaning pure folk). Any Korpiklaani fan will love this album to death, hell even a new comer will find this CD stellar.

Here's my own review: 1. Cottages and Saunas This song has a nice intro, and it's a great introducer to this album. Chorus melody is like some melody of one Finnish folk song from Pohjanmaa. Although the song has a veryvery naive lyrics, the melodies are great. 2. Journey Man This song is funny!! I'll always laugh when I hear it.. It gives a good mood to me. This is the only Korpiklaani song, where the English tongue doesn't disturb me, I don't know why. Manowar ending is brilliant, and I had a good time when I added the throat-roaring in it!! ;D ;D 3. Fields in Flames There's absolutely beautiful melodies in this song. And all acuoustic instruments are so well to heard in this. 4. Pine Woods This is one of the main tops in this album! An instrumental, which moves like a wind - silently, but yet so powerfull. Hitto-setä's pipes make a brilliant background and when I heard torupill too in this song, I said to myself: YESS!! 5. Spirit of the Forest Yet one of the tops!! YOIKING!! This song reminds so much the old Shaman, who still hides in northern lights and yoiks from the nature. Buores lávlla!! 6. Native land The accordion is an interesting solution to this song. Although I don't like accordion myself so much, it doesn't disturb me at all in this song. The lyrics are once again naive, but the song itself is nice. 7. Hunting song Cathcy melodies and fastness are the main things in this song. And the video from it is superb!! For a minus, this song brings me a Finntroll-feeling.. But it's better than Finntroll songs, so I don't bother.. (I'm not a Finntroll fan anymore) 8. Ryyppäjäiset A good song, but the name is misleading. For me, the "Drunk Party" (why, oh why so many songs have be mentioned beer drinking?? It's a cliché..) doesn't come to my mind at all. A good song, but bad name. Better would have been for example "Iltavalkialla". (In English "At the night fire in a cottage") 9. Beer Beer This is the weakest link of this album, because the song is already made in Shaman's Shamániac album. In an old "Vuola lávlla" is mentioned everything needfull what comes to beer drinking. No more beer songs.. 10. An Old Tale Lyrics bring to my mind a some song played by Tarujen saari, a Finnish folk-rock band. Why not? This is a beautiful ballad, and I like the melodies and the intro. Once again the whole band has made a good job with the song! 11. Kädet siipinä When I heard the demo version from this song, I got shivered and my hair went up. This is SO SO SO SUPERB and POWERFULL song!! THIS is how this kind of music should always be done!! Jonne's voice is so deep and has such a might in it. This is one of my favourite songs of all time and it crowns the album. I'm honoured, thankfull and touched, that I was invited to studio to play kantele in this song. The album as whole is fantastic. I give it 9- (1-10), and I'll listen it all the time. Althought I didn't liked the all solutions, IN EVERY SONG THERE'S A GOOD MOMENTS!! You've done good job, the whole team. Yet when you change the language in Finnish and keep moving in same direction as now, the good results are to be waited!! I trust you!! EDIT: I almost forgot to say this one. Voice of the Wilderness is so much better than a previous album Spirit of The Forest, which for me was a great disappointment. It was "unfinished" and the band still searched their new style. Now the style is founded, and the album is made clearly with a vision from the start to the end. It's so much produced and mixed and the songs are so much better in overall. I'm astonished, how much Korpiklaani has evolved during the time between the previous album and the new one..

I went to look for a Dutch review, the only one I found was published in a Belgian metal magazine "Rock Tribune"
Korpiklaani Voice of wilderness Napalm
Hurray, twice a winner in a row! The first disc of this Finnish metalband ‘Spirit of the forest’ was a direct hit, hellbent and straight in the bull’s eye. However, first albums are sometimes just lucky shots, your servant’s confidence in the qualities of a band increases only from the second , and certainly with the third disk. Well, Korpiklaani is on the right track, because their second album really rocks! The symbiosis between metal and traditional Finnish folk music is developed in an amazing good way. And Korpiklaani chops fellow-country band Finntroll up, without batting an eyelid. Well, I don’t think Finntroll isn’t good, on the contrary, but Korpiklaani’s performance is really breathtaking. The gloomy, touching folk music is perfectly linked to a more usual metal approach, but the combination of those two, has an enormous added value. I'm getting totally fed up with all those so-called ‘folk metal bands’ which overload their music with whistles, brass band blowers and party bells and in this way try to sound ‘pagan’ or ‘traditional’. They didn’t see that their starting point is wrong altogether. These Finnish men are different: they do not use their instruments as gimmicks and they never show off with trendy trolls of prefab Walt Disney-paganism. On the contrary, Korpiklaani guarantees inventive inspired music, brimming over with passion and honesty. The cover art of this album is also very beautiful. If possible I would have had a glance at the song texts, but those were missing on my simple promo copy. Well, even after their second album Korpiklaani remains at the absolute top of folk metal. I fell for this band and hope they will stay at the top for a long time.
The reviewer's language is very colourful, so it wasn't easy to translate, but I think the intention will be clear enough...
*I know it is quite a lot of text, should I have left out the original Dutch version? I cannot link to it, couldn't find it on the web* #nosmileys#nosmileys#nosmileys
