6. Native land The accordion is an interesting solution to this song. Although I don't like accordion myself so much, it doesn't disturb me at all in this song. The lyrics are once again naive, but the song itself is nice. (I'm not a Finntroll fan anymore) indeed, the lyrics remind me of old communist songs we used to sing as pioneers in Yugoslavia (underage party members like in the USSR) ;D (why not? music? or something else?)

Here`s translation of [ftp]http://www.powermetal.de/cdreview/review-5068.html[/ftp]-review:
Korpiklaani is the "clan of the forest".This forest is in finland and in finish forests music is made very focloristic seemingly at the moment. Many at the moment very trendy bands started with it and also KORPIKLAANI use many melodies of the sami and finish folklore but at the same time they walk a complete diifferent way than their compatriots.Cause in contrast with these bands elements of Death-and Black-metal are completely missing.
The metal-aspect of the whole music sounds much more like traditional-metal or a little bit Thrash. Some of the guitar-melodies sound like they were influenced by the real old school of NWoBHM or german Heavy-metal of the 80`s,added to this is a little bit more thrash-material and a shouter who doesn`t sing cleanly but still normal enough not to be regarded as a Death-metal-growler or a Black-metal-jangler.Based on the heavy use of a violin in songs like "Cottages and Saunas" you can hardly avoid some association with SKYCLAD but KORPIKLAANI work much more variedly with regard to the folk-elements than the english genre-founders.You can also hear instruments like flutes, jouhilkko and accordion.Especially in the instrumental song "Pine Woods" you can hear the heavy useof these instruments.
In the predessor band SHAMAN (of course not the brasilians)Jonne was singing completely in sami(=language of lapland)which was replaced by the english language when the band turned into KORPIKLAANI,probably to reach a more international audience.A rest of the sami past you can hear in the with shaman-singings enriched song"Spirit of the Forest" which is at the same time on of the great highlights of the album.Completely sang in finishis the wonderful ballad"Kädet Siipina"."Native Land",the hymn of the band to native soil is so emotional and sublime that it gives you the creeps. That beside this the band just want bring you in a good mood and want to have fun shows the song "Beer,Beer" that makes you-not only because of the lyrics-thinking of TANKARD making holiday in Finland.Turned out very well is the song"Old Tale"which combines very cal, pretty folkloristic parts with massiv thrash-riffs.
What I like most about KORPIKLAANI is the fact that they don`t use the success of ENSIFERUM and FINNTROLL for their own success and don`t make again a copy of the finish folk-black-metal-mixture which you can fear to become trendy at the moment. They go their own way,not imitating other Folk-metal bands although they are influenced by them of course.Because of this I recommend KORPIKLAANI fans of finish Humppa-metal and folk-metal as well as fans of classic Folk-metal like SKYCLAD or CRUACHAN and finally also fans of Middleage-music.Just test it out and let you infect by the drive and the energy of the woodsmen cause with one thing I`m sure:KORPIKLAANI got what they take to become one of the really great bands in the Folk-metal-circus.
Songs to test out:Cottages and Saunas,Spirit of the Forest,Native Land,Kädet Siipinä

Me: (I'm not a Finntroll fan anymore) (why not? music? or something else?) I think that Finntroll repeats itself and their concept is overused and lived it's own age. Their newest albums (Trollhammaren -EP and Nattfödd CD) are something that I just don't like. The melodies are too familiar from their oldest albums (Midnattens vitutus, Jaktens tid) and there's compeletely nothing new on their songs. Humorous "trolls drinking beer, playing humppa, and Big Bad RivFader coming to eat the head of the every Christian priest" - concept just doesn't work anymore than two first albums for me..

i enjoy finntroll, but i also think that are very repetitive. I understand what you both mean (also Zorbas). For me. I have to be in the MOOD for Finntroll. Sometimes I don`t wanna hear it for many months... and then suddenly I can hear it again for several times in a row... or at any festival they perform again and it totally rocks/ like the very first time seeing them.

Yup... same here. I actually liked the last 2 releases, very much actually, but yes... they are quite repetitive in what they do. Still... I've a thing for energetic punk-folk-metal stuff... (I'm a unconditional Flogging Molly fan fer example).. so Finntroll still captivates me. Though I'm not always in the "mood".

ShamanRunedancer: If you have the time, I'll leave it gladly to you again. (If you want to, I can translate half of it, that much I can afford) I am very much behind, because a tough job suddenly came up. I've just finished it, but now I have to catch up with the rest. If you are short of time on a next occasion, let me know, I'll do it then. I also don't dislike this, it is only hard to find the time... Well good luck, try to get some sleep ;D

Review is far to big for the few sentences I'm going to say about 'voice of wilderness'. I listened to it over and over again, drove my family nuts...Korpiklaani again they sigh...Yes, I like it very much. It's a great album, almost all songs are terrific. I tried to decide which song I like best, but I didn't succeed. It is very good on the whole. Special to me is Kädet siipinä, beautiful, lovely and I like the singing very much and the sound of the Finnish language in this song. Old tale is also great, fabulous music and very beautiful lyrics, I love sentences like: "She was sad as a child..." Spirit of the forest, another favourite, yoik singing is so marvellous to hear. Beautiful! Fields in flames, again a great song, I love both melody and lyrics...can almost see it happen. Journey man - full of joy, makes me feel happy, was also the first song that caught me on the album sample. Native land, raw and grabs me every time again. Love it. Hunting Song: the video is beautiful and has a very special atmosphere by the use of those old pieces of movie. But it also is a very nice song, good music too! Cottages and Sauna’s: despite the cheerful music, this song is quite sad. Feels like giving the message: we will stand ground, we won’t give in, how horrible things may happen to us. Pine woods is beautiful music too, feels like being alone somewhere alone at sunset in the woods. Ryyppäjäiset and Beer Beer are nice, but to me the lesser ‘songs’. Unknowing I’ve made an order after all. But this album is really great on the whole. The album ‘Spirit of the forest’ was also a big favourite of mine, still is, but after listening ‘voice of wilderness’ I must admit that this album is better, more balanced.
