When I was 12, I was on some game forums that I enjoyed browsing through. About 6 months in, I followed a link to the youtube video of Wooden Pints. Upon first listen I was amazed, it was for my life up until now, the friend I never had. I recognised it, yet it was new. 2 weeks later, I had all the 3 albums that were avaliable at the time, and was eagerly awaiting their next release. At that age of 12/13 I had no other music that I was passionate about at all, this was my only love. Everyday i'd play it, I got lost in the music. I was a complete freak. Showering, on my game consoles, sleeping! I would listen to this music obsessively (which is something I cannot say for anything else, even to this day). It really did change my life in a fantastic way. When I was about 14 or 15, I got into lots of other kinds of music and gradually forgot about my past love, Korpiklaani . I never listened to this music in the same sort of way, I actually had a taste in music now because I liked several differnet artists. Infact, if I never heard Korpiklaani up untl this point, I probably would have discovered it and hated it! Which is terrible. I'm now considerably older and last week I rediscovered this fantastic music. I have yet to buy the three newest albums, but I no doubt will. Listening to the first 3 albums again, I feel myself once more. There was an emptiness for those years without Korpiklaani. It's filled a whole once again, subconciously. (i'm not one to talk about music in this fashion usually). Now, i'm considering getting some ink done in tribute of my favorite band. I really just wanted to stop by (once again) and say that this band rocks! I'm honored to be a fan. Share your experiences!

Well.. The first song I have heard was Happy Little Boozer. Which's refrain I always remembered as (due to Jonne's bad pronunciation and me never reading the lyrics before) AbileoAbileoAbielo boozer, abileoabileoabileo boozer I haven't really searched for their other songs. Then, a bunch of months later I've got the news that they will play on the Hungarian Rockmaraton in July. In January-February I knew I want to go and see them! I started to listen to their music more and more, got their discography and just fell in love with them. I'm not a beer-lover boozer kind of a girl but I'm really into folk, folk instruments+melody, happy songs. When the show in July came, I knew the 60% of their songs and 85% of the songs they played. I'm a fan since then, but I find Karkelo a lot worse than the other albums. Too heavy, too little folk and happiness in it, too little violin:) Other experiences.. Before the concert on the signing session I've spoken Finnish witht them. I love the Finnish language, I can say some phrases, and I learnt 2 sentences to say them. When I greeted them in Finnish they looked surprised and maybe happy about me And if I remember right, the drummer guy answered e something in finnish happily but I haven't understood a word. Well, this year I gonna try again, I suppose But now I can tell that anteeksi, en ymmärä koska puhun vain vähän suomea. <-yes there are some mistakes in it I s'pose

The first song I heard was Happy Little Boozer, the second was Kirki. From then I was hooked.
In terms of actual experiences with Korp...on Paganfest USA '09 I sang Jonne the entirety of Kirki, drunk, while he (also drunk) danced all around the bar. All this at about 2AM.
A fine time was had by all.

I was on youtube once, watching an Amon Amarth video, and in the link in the sidebar there was a video about top 10 viking metal bands. On it had Beer Beer by Korpi, but not the whole song, so I searched and found Wooden Pints, and that was the first song I heard by them. Been hooked ever since. First album I got was Korven Kuningas, which is still my favourite album. Never seen them live though because they haven't come to Australia yet. When they do, I'll surely be there. Hoping to go to Germany sometime next year though, so hopefully I'll go see them while I'm in Europe. Ever since I first heard them though, they have been my favourite band, and there's not a single song of theirs I don't think is awesome.

My 1st experience with this crazy band was 5 years ago. At that time i was getting into hunting and I bought Metal Hammer magazine and it had a battle metal cd on it and on there was Hunting Song funnily enough and the rest is obvious. My last experience was seeing them live in Bristol, I had all of the band around my car rocking it waking up my hungover mate and I got them to sign the back of my car.... good times!

Haha, so I guess we crazy Serbs arn't the only ones who dance around and sing when we are dunk. ;D @olli I think its been 5 years for me too. Someone told me about Korpiklaani back then, and I think they were from Finland.

In 2006, right after the WoA, Korpiklaani shot straight to the first place of my favourite bands and stayed there until now. This was basicly in my time of life when i thought about everything a lot. Their music helped me through a lot of hard times since then. I never actually met one of them, although i would really like to *g* But, as I know myself, i probably wouldn't even get out a single word then, because i'm too shy. A pity... Well, maybe I will see them some day on a meet&greet on the wacken open air. I really hope so.
