We are happy to announce that on November 7th we will invade the Petrax-studios in Hollola again to record our next album. The title is still subject of discussion, so we cannot reveal it. The amount of songs is unsure yet; we keep on writing… inspiration flows! Many songs are based on the Kalevala (our national epic). The release date too is under discussion. So, not a lot of news, but we guessed that you would like to know that another album is on its way, a really cool album, the best album we’ve ever made… at least, we think so (facebook/website)Looking forward to this!

Many songs are based on the Kalevala (our national epic). This gives hope the album to be a very folkish-trended one and returning to the music line before Karkelo. If so, it will be great! ;D

yes Yes YES!!! I just literally checked this forum in hope of update like this... and suddenly here it is! *cracks open a beer* The fact that the studio invasion is set to occur just a day before my birthday is gonna make it even more magical for me. And now the late autumn magic is gonna be captured in the album's recorded tracks

i truly do hope that the next album will become very folky indeed, don't get me wrong that Karkelo was a great album, but it kind of changed the direction Korpiklaani is heading towards. I hope you do not mind some criticism, but I didn't really enjoy Ukon Wacka as much.
I am in love with the songs, Palovana, Midsummer Night, Pellonpekko, Tervaskanto, Cottages and Saunas, and all the other songs in the albums before Karkelo.

Just bought it trough itunes. Gave it a chance twice. Sorry to say it but it's very modest. Sounds well known. Only the yoyk at the end gives me some hope about the new album...

Finnish traditional folk metal pioneers KORPIKLAANI have recently finished the recordings of their upcoming 8th studio album that will be released in summer. As a foretaste for what you can look forward to and to make the waiting time more bearable, they proudly present the brand new track `Metsälle´!
Front man Jonne grants insight into the song’s lyrical concept: “ `Metsälle´ can be seen as kind of a prayer to the ancient gods to ask for luck for the tough hunt deep in the woods in cold winter time. Not only is the old man in the song praying for success but – even more importantly – for a safe way through the dangerous frostiness.”

Guess thats a matter of taste. I for, my part, love that song, it generates that mood that made Palovana a song to adore, but has more of an modern heavy instrumentalization to it.
