Hey all, I know in these days of Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms, a common forum seems a bit... eh... oldfashioned. But the pages of this forum are like a treasure chest full of gems. Not only you can find out many things about Korpiklaani and the Jonne band, but also very interesting info about Finland, history, philosophy, folk customs, sagas and legends, and much much more. I know there is a big gap between the older posts and this one. But maybe together we can bring this forum up to date. A forum like this has the benefit that threads still can be read in a logical order, and don't get lost in the clutter of pages like Facebook and such. WELCOME BACK!

The second Jonne album Kallohonka was published in 2017, already some time ago. In 1919 the beautiful singles Kaarna and Autere came out. A single with Corteza guitars was issued in 2020.
And Jonne is together with Jaana busy writing new songs... exiting!

Dear all,
I just learned that Mariska (from The Netherlands) has passed away. Besides beeing a very nice person, she was a dedicated fan, and far too young to go.
She will always be remembered by the band, by me, and I am sure by many more.
Good bye Mariska, we won't forget you.

Before Korpiklaani, there was Shaman and it all started with Shamaani duo. Jonne and Maaren Aikio singing and joiking songs at the Hullu Poro, in Lapland. Jonne went on with his bands, but Maaren stopped. Still, their album Hunka Lunka is a true gem. Sadly Maaren Aikio died suddenly and unexpectedly on June 4, 2018. She was only 40 years old. She will be missed most of all by her kids, by her family and friends, but also by the audience she once had and still has. In the news there was a lot of attention about her passing away. (p.e. www.is.fi/viihde/art-2000005706339.html)We wish strength to all that loved her. Voimia!

Welcome all! This forum is not very active anymore, what is a real pity, because there are so many interesting posts, discussions, facts and more here. I think it is in the spirit of the age, and if it changes, we at least have a forum packed with interesting stuff!

Yes, it is a real pity that this, once so lively forum, is so quit these days. I think That it is mostly due to Facebook, although it can't replace the discussions here. Maybe we all should try to come here more often... to post here more often...

Since not many bandmembers visit here often, i'll tell you what i know about this.
The themes of the songs correspond to the believes of at least part of the band.

The songs are in one of the Saami-languages. Saami, the people of Lapland.
