This is a picture of the Giant's Chair not too far away from where I live. Its around 50/70 years old or so I have been told. Most likely older. Here is another picture from Symonds Yat View point, Which is a very important land mark here in the Forest Of Dean. Then here is just a nice scenic picture of the woodland down the road from where I live. And finally here is a picture of Speech House Lake, this is where I usually go fishing Hope you enjoy the pictures of my environment

Great pics, Olli and HK!!!!! Here I'll post some pics I took at the biking route I made the other day. They're not really good, I'm a bad photographer. This wouldn't be my enviromental sorround; I live 70 kms southwards, which in many countries is a backstreet, but in Madrid is like one extreme and the opther. It's interesting how much landscape changes between my area and this another. I should take some pics of the landscape in Pinto. Maybe one day my companions of the biking routes will come here low and then I'll take some pics This is a village called Manzanares Del Real. I'm not sure you can see it, but in right corner below there's a castle, from Medieval times. In the outside is ok, but inside is totally modern, which I don't like very much This is a glimpse of the mountains. There's still some snow, but it won't last for too long. In fact is strange it still lasts And another one from the mountains. Not much exciting but that's what you can find in the north of Madrid. Anyway, I must say this is not the highest part of Madrid, there are mountains northwards, where people go skying.

There is a reconstruction of a old house and of tingods etc I love it to be there. This weekend I'll be there too and make some new spring pics of the place. This are just the winterpictures.. Hope you'll love it like me :-)

As I promised on friday, here I send some pics from the last biking route I made. Most of them were took in motion, so may be a bit blurry; I stopped for other ones The path we made is an old train way. In fact it was designed on the end of XIXth C, built in the 1920's and after the war it was left unfinished, so no train ever stepped there. THe path is now for bikers and walkers. THat's the usual landscape, among rocks There are also some archs and tunnels, some of them quite long and without light Sometimes the tunnels were quite near one from the other I like very much this one, going out from the tunnel; a beautiful contrast, I think This part of the path was quite beautiful; I liked the savage look of the figgy trees This bridge was built over a big lake, three or four kms long. The looks from the bridge were beautiful and it was hard to decide from what angle to take the pic And here some pics af the lake On this one you can see a house inside the lake A river follows the lake And there was a water mill, now destroyed. You can't imagine how much I'd like to have a bath there. It was 16.30 and I've rode for 70kms; and it was pretty hot. Unfortunately there was no way to go to the bottom A small cliff

It is really GREAT!!! But I announced in the weather-topic to tell something about my environment... Here we go: I live in a former lake. Centuries ago, people wanted to have more land in holland. They dug a ring round the lake, and placed the very dutch windmills on the very dutch dikes. ;D Then, they transported the water out of the lake. The bottom of the lake became visible, and the ringcanal remained. The dikes of the ringcanal are like 3 metres high, and the water is just 0,5 metres below the top of the dike. My house is at the lowest point of the dike, so actually, that is 2,5 metres below the water in the ringcanal. The only thing between the ringcanal and my house are the garden and a ditch. Many people find it a very unconfortable feeling, to live under the water level, and especially knowing it because you can easy see it. With this method, land suitable for farmers (mainly cattle) came. until my town expanded that far, that two parts of the city were build actually inside the former lake. The area I live is done in 1622. Photographs (not my own): Cyclinglane at the inner dike, looking at the neigbouring village (Ilpendam) The roads in the 'polder' are straight (neighouring polder Beemster) ;D: I'll add an aerial picture of my area

That was much snow for our little Eastfrisia...normally it's not that white in winter here... In addition to the post from AngelOfFate here are two more pictures of the environment where she lives...I try to get some more of Eastfrisia soon But the two landscapes not very different so what it looks like in her environment is very similar to Eastfrisia... A look over the Elbe river again... Here a small pond...

That eastfrisia is quite the same to big parts of Holland ;D I live near (and am born in) an area called westfriesland (westfrisia) Hmmhmm, they reminded me to Holland too, here are some pics of the two villages where I live: Bokhoven: Here you can see how small this village is. Engelen: Whaha, I can't find good pics from "Engelen", but that village is much bigger than "Bokhoven", strange strange....
