I'm sure your mother is cool, but mine is more the 'When are you going to dress properly' type... she keeps telling it to me and I'm already 25... No... she would not headbang. hahaha

carya: joa ... eigentlich is nur meine mum so cool drauf...mein vater tut bloß so ;D Forum language is English, please stick to it, people (or use PMs for German talks)! TX! P.S. But I´m glad you all seem to have so cool parents. My mother wouldn`t even give it a TRY to listen to such music. She can`t stand any loud or fast noise, it just totally annoyes her. my mother started acting like yours.. she really hated bands which had singers very loud and singing, well not singing she would say "Yelling" short and long songs. after years my mother began understanding me and try to hear that music like other kind of music, and now she told me some bands she could consider "OK" not good enough just "OK" and in that list was Korpiklaani, Cruachan and Tom Petty (lol) i was so excited to know that! i gave her a copy of Voice of Wilderness, her "favorite song" is Native Land AWESOME!

Seeing that my dad is sort of into scandinavian folk music ( Varttina, Mari Boine, etc etc) it is rather obvious that he sort of likes Korpiklaani... ofcourse he likes the more traditional songs they do but also the faster stuff he sort of likes... so yah... no one at ome really minds if i put a cd from the on :-D

Introducing my favourite bands to my parents is a very futile effort. They told to my music that it's a noise, and they also keep saying me that I sould wear smart skirts and suits with high heels and colourful clothes (pink, apple green, beige, etc.) Earlier I told them that I would wear those clothes when I'll be in my 30s. Now, since I've already reched that age and I feel still very comfortable and untrendy in my black jeans and Shelley boots I think that I would never wear those smart women clothes. Maybe in my 50s.
Anyway, in August I left a Korpiklaani cassette in my dad's car. He returned me that cassette last week and told me: "Here's your noise, it's not that bad as the others, but we still don't like it."

Hahaha, very good point! ;D I have to remember that, when my parents annoy me again because of my taste in clothing! Anyway, in August I left a Korpiklaani cassette in my dad's car. He returned me that cassette last week and told me: "Here's your noise, it's not that bad as the others, but we still don't like it." Well, at least it`s "not as bad as the others"! ;D

Haha, I love this thread.
I played my mom Voice of Wilderness and to my surprise she even liked it. So she is even going to the show in Lübeck with my dad.

The only way I got introduced to them was by the mad Finnish man who masquerades as my boyfriend. He sent me , I think it was Happly Little Boozer, and said "Listen to that!" I told him the song reminded me of him, and he just laughed. And now, I'm just hooked

My mom doesn't like my music... She's always like: I cannot understand you... Why do you like that? It's so agressive! Or when I'm listening to folk music: I don't like they way this singer sings... But my dad likes nearly all of my music. I was listening to Tales... when my father came in. Dad: Hey, I like that. Nice music! Me: (enthusiasctic) Yeah! Dad: What band is it? Me: (even more enthusiastic) It's Korpiklaani! Have a look at the booklet... Dad: ...Aha... Some guys in leather pants... They are funny! When I'm listening to Korpiklaani and my father asks again: What's this? It's cool! I answer: The guys in leather pants! And he knows which band I'm talking about

I have no idea if my mum realises what I'm listening to half the time. She'd probably like it tho, well, she'd like the guys in leather pants

As my parents mostly listen to pop music, they don't like my musical taste at all. Well, they like some "softer" rock bands, but definitely not metal. My mum especially hates death metal and growl vocals...
But she knows the name of Korpiklaani! Thinking of my mum, that is a huge thing. ;D
