Sarcofagus (Kimmo Kuusiniemi Band) - Veistoksen ajatuksia This band is absolutely the biggest pioneer in Finnish heavy metal, if you ask me. They were the first band who said that they play heavy metal in Finnish in the late 70's. They used the Egyptian symbolics in their songs and cover art much more earlier than Mercyful Fate and Iron Maiden. And their marvelous album Moottorilinnut (Motorbirds), released in the year 1981, was the very first metal album in Finland sung in FINNISH! It was also the first Finnish metal album in Finland using female vocals (sung by Muska Babitzin) in some of the songs. Sarcofagus also made the first Finnish metal music videos ever; you have to remember that back in the early 80's there were no digital cameras, no MTV-culture, and no home VHS-players. This band is thus a pioneer in several fields. Their music is as old as I am, but still they have this same energy and feeling that it would have been done yesterday. Total hails and respect. Here's the Youtube-link to see the video and the song I'm now listening. It features the famous KIRKA BABITZIN (R.I.P.) singing raw heavy metal, although he's more known as a schlager-singer here in Finland. Next in line: Sarcofagus - Elävien hautausmaa (featuring Muska Babitzin [Kirka's sister] in vocals] Sarcofagus - 1000 megawatin totuus (featuring Kirka again)

Wolf & Cub - 'Vessels'
they were the support for Wolfmother in Amsterdam yesterday. Although I didn't know them, I liked the few songs I heard from Wolf & Cub. They were selling the album, and since it's always good to support smaller bands by buying merch, I bought the album. Played the album twice on my way home, and remembered this song from the show as one I really liked.

Metallica - The Unforgiven II
I was looking for a CD of Mokoma, when I found the discography of Metallica (I have all the CD's in alphabetical order). Then, I started to listen some songs, and now, I'm listening to this. I like a lot this song, especially the refrain. It's been the first song I've listened to of Metallica.

Amin Amarth - Hermod's Ride To Hel - Lokes Treachery Part 1.
What can I say, the best song from one of the best albums released in 2006.

Currently listening to "Bleed Me An Ocean," by Acid Bath.
Acid Bath was a southern (U.S.) stoner metal band in the 1990s, they only made two albums because their bassist was killed in an automobile accident in 1997. Their guitarist, Sammy Duet, now plays for southern death/black metal band Goatwhore (whom I also like very much).
I like Acid Bath because though they have stoner metal and death metal influences, they don't really fit into any specified category. My favorite of their two albums, "Paegan Terrorism Tactics," makes me think of mutants and freaks living in the swampy backwaters of the rural southeast of the U.S.A. ;D
I also really like their lyrics and the vocalist's voice; it's very unique. I find their lyrics to be very poetic.
Whoever came up with this idea is a genius; I like talking about what I'm listening to! I also think it will expand my musical tastes because I'm more likely to listen to a band if I can know more about them than the album or song title.

Ensiferum - Another Magic Potion A song from their new CD Single... they seem to continue like they did on Dragonheads... Not a bad song... Can't wait for the new album ( which is preordered by now ^^) "Victory Songs" is leaked out, you can already find the album on soulseek. It's not a bad album. Though it can't be compared with "Ensiferum". I miss Jari NP: Fjoergyn - Wenn Stürme ruhen. Nice song to wake up on a cloudy Sunday morning like today.

That genius is named Ina Waltari - Pigeons And that is just what i like so much about this band. All songs are very different, still you recognize immediately that it is Waltari. They also made a (beautiful) album together with Angelit. On their upcoming album is also a bonus track together with Hedningarna! In the whole i like this band a lot, and also think they are getting better with every album. They truly deserve a listening: www.myspace.com/waltarimusic

janneke: i know... I've heard it... it's quite cool and... if Ensiferum with Jari would've gone the way Wintersun is now I must say... I'm not at all impressed by Wintersun at all... In Extremo - Vollmond Lovely intro by a Celtic harp, catchy chorus one of their best songs
