Hey people! I don't know have someone already suggested this earlier and since the topic has so many pages, it's almost impossible to check it. But anyway, this idea isn't even the most orginal one, i've seen it in many forums already. I've noticed that some posts in this topic include a little more than just the song title and the artist/band who performs it. Why wouldn't we all include to the message our own opinions about the songs we're listening at the moment? It shouldn't be too hard because opinions can be expressed even in few words. So what do you all think? mods? forumers?
now listening to:
Mikis Theodorakis - Katastash Poliorkias
I "accidently" found this greek composer and his creative work while searching songs of other singers. So this is completely a new found for me. I don't know yet what to think about it, to be honest..thiskind of music is so hard to describe! Very emotional, very beautiful. Since i don't know any greek, my mind is naturally focused on the music and the singing of the vocalist Maria Farantouri instead of lyrics - but sometimes it's even better not knowing them because then you can use your imagination.and for a start... Värttinä - Synti (the sin)Värttinä is a Finnish band who makes great music that leans heavily on traditional folk (ethnic) music. Nowadays Värttinä consists of three great ladies accompanied by a truly good band. Their musical qualities are beyond question imo. I like this band very much for about three years now ( as long as i know them) and recently went to a very impressive life gig. Not just the singing and the music are great, but also the interaction with the audience, the stories they tell about the songs, the expression on stage, well totally unforgettable for me. Last summer i bought also their video, and on that you can see the lead singers (well not exactly the same, since Sari kaasinen left the band at a certain stage) at a very young age performing on a village square). Värttinä is very strongly recommended (by me ) for everyone who loves real good music that leans heavily on original themes and melodies. If you can ever go to a live performance, do it! You will never regret it! samples and more info: official Värttinä website

Kehlvin - 'Fat Freddy'
Last week this cd from Switzerland landed on my desk, and I had no clue who Kehlvin was. Now I play the album at least twice a day. It's really really good.

The Rasmus - Not Like the Other Girls Sometimes I'm in the mood for trashy, catchy pop - especially when there's a good looking Finnish vocalist!

Soil - Halo.
Funny story to tell: A few weeks ago, I had to hand in a very big paper for school. It took me 3 weeks to finish it, so I didn't went out for 3 weeks. The day I handed in this paper, the only thing I wanted to do was going out. So I went to a Soil concert with some friends. Didn't knew the band, but was very impressed. The singer has an amazing voice. Despite the fact that I usually don't like american bands, I'm addicted to Soil now xD

Right now I'm listening to a Relapse Records sampler album. Currently Unearthly Trance - Permanent Ice is playing, and it's not doing much for me. I'm hanging out for track 11, the Alchemist track.

Ween - Mutilated Lips I've had this song in my head for some days. I keep on coming across 'Haile Sellase' (you know how you learn a new word, and then suddenly you notice it everywhere?) and the only Haile Sellase I knew was in the lyrics to this song. I didn't know he was an Ethiopian king. So now I've queued up all my favourite Ween songs - they make me happy (especially with titles like "Waving My Dick in the Wind"! )

XIV Dark Centuries "Toringi" > it's just such a great moody folk song with great men's choirs in the beginning ... in your imagination you see the old Teutons celebrate their fests to this music...

Trollfest: Piratkriegen
This song has an awsome riff at the beginning. But on their video about their new album, durin the rehersals the bass started off and the guitarist started to play smoke on the water and it sounded awsome but that must have been a prat around but this song is pretty heavy.
