... Did I mentioned Harmony Glen over here?... Got to know them at "de Midwinter Fair" from last year. We would go to sleep in one hall, together with Chain of Dogs & Asthenia. When we returned to the hall with our sleeping-bags we found Harmony Glen. Doing an acoustic show. Everybody joined and jammed together a big part of the evening. It was sooo beautiful ^_^ Anyhow, this is their myspace: www.myspace.com/harmonyglen

mmh, I think I know an italian band, I'm not good in making classifications, but they say it's power/folk metal: They're "Elvenking". Does anybody know them?

Latvian Band Skyforger what they do??? Really they play Etno-Folk?? In addition to their metal CDs, they've also released an acoustic album Zobena Dziesma that contains traditional Latvian songs (except the last song "O kai saulute tekejo" that is Lithuanian). I've heard about a re-release of this CD with some bonus songs, but we'll see it then.

I think they've found a very good combination between power and folk metal. and they are still original and something special.

I saw Skyclad couple of years ago in Tuska Open Air - metal festival and I have to say that I don't find anything common between Skyclad and 'Klaani. Of course they both use violin and they both are classified as "folk metal", but musically there's nothing same. I've always wondered why in most of the reviews people compare these bands (or Finntroll), because musically there's nothing same. Is it only because of the created genre-classification "folk metal", or the similarity in instruments, or what is it? Personally I don't like Skyclad much; the gig in Tuska proved that to me. I agree, Skyclad and Korpiklaani don't sound too similar to me - like you said, they "just" use a similar instrumentation and are in the same genre. BUT they are similar in that "Last.fm similar artists" kind of way: they attract a similar audience. If you look at Skyclad's similar bands, you'll see that most Skyclad listeners also enjoy Korpiklaani, and there are quite a few Korpiklaani listeners that also enjoy Skyclad. Cheers Matze
