just because they were using arabic script and used the language itself occassionaly (official and religious language, except for some sufic orders) doesn't mean they were Arabs, they were partially arabised Moors, but that's it... just like i'm using the latin alphabet and english language right now, but i'm neither... the Maghreb dynasties became independent from Damascus and Baghdad quite early anyway... so the muslims coming to Iberia were for the most part Moors, albeit a bit arabized (like most muslims, and just like christians became romanized/graecisized (?))
ranting 3rd year student of history who dares not not to have the final word in such matters ;D

yep, not bad, not bad at all, but i'm missing more folk parts too... would be nice to hear some oriental/iberic flavored black metal... and to spread it through the Middle-East... hey, the muslims (the conquerors of Al-Andaluz (Iberic penninsular) were actually Moors (Berbers) not Arabs, although some were there too) gave Europe hygene, algebra, math (a thing i resent to this day ;D), good food, the lute and a shitload of other useful stuff, so let's export folk-metal ;D and make up for at least something...like... ummm... falafel? ;D

i doubt Scandinavia is a place where beer-fans should go, at least by my experience with swedish and danish beer, hopefully i'll find out soon
karhu beer? haha bear-beer, nice, so is it more like teddy-beer or grizzly-beer and why the numbers? is it the potency or what (i'm too lazy to go through the whole fave beers thread as well)

of course its better to have them than to have nothing. i dont hows there, but in Portugal you can buy discman that read mp3 for about 25 euros. they ain't that expensive here either, from €30 onwards, but i don't have the nerves to go to a freakin mall to buy it... i hate malls... and large congreagtions of civilised people

i also dispise tapes. summoning's tapes? cool! untill i buy a discman i'm stuck with the tapes too, but that's okay... yeah, some Czech label put the Summoning tapes out, some years ago... it was quite a common thing to see, since not many people in the East had CD players and underground music (of any kind) from the West (and the East of course) had to be put out on tapes to be sold

OK, uplifted by my new level (kotka ;D finnaly) and reading about a possible Korpiklaani digipak somewhere i'll start a new thread - a voting one of sorts: Jewel Case CDs or Digipaks? 1-which ones do you prefer and why? 2-which ones dominate your collections? 3-should ("would?" for band members) Korpiklaani put out digipaks? my humble (oh, yes, starting a new thread is very humble ) opinions: 1-digipaks, because they look better, feel better and often come with extras 2-jewel cases, sadly 3-most definitely ;D

my throat and beer-belly (my very own percussion instrument ;D), but seriously, i'm too lazy to keep seriously and devotedly (is that even a word ) studying to play an instrument... so far i tried with: -bass guitar -didgeridoo (couldn't figure out the right breathing technique) -djembe (i'll pick that one up soon, as soon as i can afford one ;D) -irish flute (breathing again) so so far it's just the kalimba (an african instrument, like a hand piano maybe, hard to describe), for relaxation

i'd love to see the Festival Interceltique in Lorient (Breizh) some day, but our local festival (Festival Lent in Maribor, Slovenia) offers quite a good dose of folk/etno music and freakish/weird street theatre... a bit too commercial lately though which means that everything in the town gets more expensive, esp. the BOOZE metal festivals largely turn me off, too many black-metal kids trying to be "grim", "nekro" or some other crap - basically an excuse to behave like the worst assholes and fucking up other festival-goers as well as the organizers i like medieval-festivals... mmmm... mead ;D

candy, fruit, various nuts and money... yeah, this year even if i'd be orthodox (and i don't mean an orthodox mead-drinker and folkmetaler ;D) the thing i'd really like wouldn't come in time... the new Korpiklaani album, sigh, still a month to wait for it... maybe for the lunar new year?
